Hi crafters! Simon Says Stamp has a brand new release called Friend Like You and today I am sharing a card that I made with some of the product.

Simon Says Stamp Friend Like You

The Friend Like You release is filled with wonderful, summery dies, stamps, embossing folders, inks embellishments and tools. So fun!

Layers of ink - Shark Baby Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

My youngest loves sharks and these are meant to be little blue shark, one of his favorites. The background is watercolored, with an embossed sheet of acetate on top. There is some space between the acetate and the background, making the card look 3-D.

Stamp Simon Says Stamp Snappy Birthday.

Stamp a bunch of sharks from Simon Says Stamp Snappy Birthday on watercolor paper.

Paint with watercolors.

Color them with watercolor paint. I also stamped a few more, but didn't color all of them. Cut them out with scissors or with the coordinating dies.

Emboss acetate in Simon Says Stamp Dot Spiral folder.

Emboss acetate in the new Simon Says Stamp Dot Spiral folder.

Add stickles.

Add Star Dust Stickles on the back of the folder, following the shapes of the circles.

Paint background with watercolors.

I painted a simple underwater background using the same colors as for the sharks.

Splatter with gouache.

When dry, splatter with Permanent White gouache at the top and dark paint at the bottom.

I adhered the sharks with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Perfect Foam Tape, for more dimension.

The acetate panel was adhered to the watercolor background with staples. Here you can better see the shape of the embossed circles. It is a really cool. Almost like waves.

Adhere shark with foam tape.

The sentiments also come from the Snappy Birthday set.

The glitter adds a fun touch behind the embossed acetate. The shiny acetate also gives the card a water feel.

The final little blue shark.

Thank you for visiting! See you again tomorrow!

Happy crafting!

Layered Ephemera Card

Hello friends! I hope you had a fun weekend! This was a Pokemon-weekend for us and a lot of fun.

This week we have a Use Ephemera/Layer It Up theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I hope you will join us! Don't miss the project by our March guest designer Rox aka Red Dirt Crafter.

Layers of ink - Layered Ephemera Card by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I made a 6x6 in card using a whole bunch of ephemera and also some scrap pieces which were left-over from previous projects. These projects are a lot of fun to make. I really enjoy deciding which pieces to use and then moving them around until I am happy with the look.

Collect various scraps and ephemera pieces.

I started by going through some scrap boxes and also picked out a bunch of Tim Holtz idea-ology ephemera. I didn't use everything and added a few more items after taking this photo. I used ephemera from: Organic Layers, Palette Ephemera, Snippets, and Snippets Number Strips.

Sand, ink and distress the edges.

Sand all the edges and fold and crease some of them. Ink with Ground Espresso and then distress with an edge distressor tool.

Glue to the background.

After planning where to place everything, I started adhering it in layers to cream background cardstock.

Fold and crease some of the edges.

I made sure not to cover up any words, numbers or images which I wanted to keep visible, such as the title of this book.

Stamped acetate dragonfly.

The dragonfly was left-over from another project. The stamp comes from Stamper's Anonymous Classics #1 and was stamped on acetate and colored with alcohol ink. I added Stickles to the wings. The circles in the background were also in my scrap box and were die cut with Simon Says Stamp Thin Frames. The cloud background from Organic Layers is really nice.

Here you can see the glitter effect on the wings better.

Ephemera collection.

I gathered little groups of ephemera on the tag, and also added Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gold Gems.

The ticket was stamped with Tim Holtz Odds & Ends and was also in my scrap box, as was the ribbon, cheese cloth, and the very old paper flower.

Frosty Christmas Window Tutorial

Hello friends! Today, I am happy to have a tutorial on the Simon Says Stamp store blog. I enjoy making my own Christmas decorations and they also make great gifts. For this project, I made a sparkly window. Below is a sneak peek.

For this project, I built a Christmas scene using mainly Tim Holtz idea-ology pieces. I wanted to add parcels, but the stamps that I had at home were all too large. The problem was solved with Simon Says Stamp Shrink Sheets, making the parcels the perfect size. I am very fond of creating snow for projects and here I used one of my favorite methods for that: texture paste, glitter and mica flakes.

Head over to the Simon Says Stamp Store blog to see the full project and all the steps in the tutorial.

Happy Christmas crafting!

The Apothecary Tutorial

Hello crafters! I have one more Halloween project to share, the front door of a spooky apothecary practice.

Layers of ink - The Apothecary Halloween Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I really like Tim Holtz Baseboard pieces and they are fun to layer. Here I layered an arch and a door, with the addition of a sign post and a sentiment strip. Lots of fun little details which can belong to a spooky apothecary: bottles, jars, glass balls, sweets and of course skulls of some of his victims.

Sand the edges of the idea-ology Halloween baseboards pieces.

Here you can see the individual pieces. The shelf was made by gluing to wood planks from the Baseboard set together. Sand all the edges.

Add a Halloween transparency.

Glue a Halloween Transparency to the arch. I used one of the spider web transparencies.

Stain the skulls and bones with black paint.

Glue the door on top and glue the shelf under the door. Splatter black paint on the background. The skulls and bones were also distressed with black paint.

Die cut bottles with Tim Holtz Vault Wicked set.

Using the Sizzix Vault Wicked set, the bottles were die cut from leftover papers, Simon Says Stamp Color-Blend cardstock (which is glossy), Black Glitter Cardstock and gold metallic cardstock.

Add Halloween sticker book sentiments to the signpost.

Glue sentiments from the Halloween Sticker Book to the sign post. I really enjoying picking clipping sentiments, creating a story.

Glue Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gems here and there.

Two bottles were placed on the title and adhered with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Perfect Foam Tape.

Add a transparent moth.

I glued a transparent bat to the door too. Fold up the wings.

Make a shelf with baseboard pieces and place bottles, glass balls, bones and skulls on it.

Glue mummy cloth to the shelf, as a table cloth. Add Bubbles, skulls, Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gems, bones and bottles to the shelf. I used two layers of foam tape for the bottles.

Tiny bottles.

I added clippings number stickers to some of the bottles and wrote numbers on the rest.

Here you can see the shelf from above with all the little details.

Shelves are easy to build and give space for many different types of dimensional items.

Stack three skulls on top of each other, with a bone under one of them. I also added idea-ology candy corn.

The project has quite a lot of dimension.
