Blue Rainbow

Hi friends! Today I have a tag to share using a rainbow stencil, but not really for a rainbow, but for an interesting background design.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Happy Rainbow stencil set to create the background of this tag. The stencils are meant for a rainbow design, but I decided to turn them on the side instead and use only shades of blue, green and turquoise. The background was ink with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated inks. The Happy Rainbows set is a part of the new Sunny Vibes release.

Start by white embossing Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background on the entire tag.

Place down one of the stencils and ink with Seafoam ink using an ink-blending brush.

Take the next stencil and line it up. Ink with Pawsitively Saturated Ocean ink.

Next stencil, but this time with Spring ink. I turned the heart around since I didn't want it placed on it's side.

Repeat with Ocean ink again.

I wanted the ink to be darker for one of the designs and repeated it with Woodsy ink. The white embossing will resist the inks.

The May Arts Faux Wrinkled Silk Ribbon was dyed with three of the Pawsitively Saturated inks used on the project.

I added even more circle designs to the tag. Simon Says Stamp Circle Loops were die cut from black glittery cardstock. The dotted tape is from Tim Holtz Design Tape Trims and there are of course also some sequins.

I inked the edges with the Woodsy ink.

The Simon Says Stamp Fancy Hello was die cut from black glitter cardstock and from leftover inky Specialty Stamping paper. Adhere with foam tape.

This sentiment stamp comes from Simon Says Stamp Beachcombing, also from the Sunny Vibes release.

Beachcombing Cards

Hi friends! Today I have two beach cards made with the same stamp set, but with different papers and inks.

Layers of ink - Beachcombing Cards Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Using different papers and inks can change the look of your project a lot. Sometimes you might also struggle to get a good result if you use a paper and ink combination that don't work well together. On the card to the left, I used Distress Ink combined with watercolor paper. On the card to the right, I used Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper with Archival Ink. Solid clear stamps can be hard to get a good result with on some papers. I used the Beachcombing stamp set from Simon Says Stamp new Sunny Vibes release.

I had inky Specialty Stamping papers leftover from another tutorial. You can see how they were made here.

Start by white embossing one of the shells on a pink paper.

Stamp the three coordinating solid stamps with Archival Inks. You can also try other types of ink. Test how it will work on a scrap piece first. Since the inks are transparent, not all colors will look great on every background, since the background will show through slightly.

Stamp the shell one more time on Simon Says Stamp Masking Paper and mask the image. White emboss other stamps from the set. The stamps are very nicely organised on the backing sheet and it is easy to see which solid stamp belongs to which outline.

Continue stamping the solid stamps on the rest of the images.

I repeated the colors from the first shell on the large one to the right.

Ink Distress Ink through the Simon Says Stamp Happy Rainbows stencil to add bubbles to the top part of the card. Stamp sentiments from Beachcombing with brown ink.

Now on to the second card. Start with a piece of watercolor paper which has been tinted with Antique Linen Distress Ink. White emboss the images as before.

Stamp the solid images with Distress Ink. Mist the stamp with water about three times after inking it.

Don't worry if the stamping isn't completely in the lines, with this watercolor technique it just adds to the look. I stamped the smaller stamps before the larger impressions had dried completely, making the inks blend on the paper.

Layers of ink - Beachcombing Cards Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Ink through the Happy Rainbow stencil.

I restamped some of the images with darker ink, not applying ink to the whole stamp, to create shading. Ink through one of the Happy Rainbows stencil as before and stamp a sentiment. This stencil set is very versatile.

The first card has warm tones with the pink Specialty Stamping paper tinting the stamped images. It was matted on cream and orange cardstock and adhered to folded pink cardstock.

Add some sequins here and there to shine and as bubbles.

The Specialty Stamping paper has a nice, but subtle, texture. It is matte.

The Archival Ink might cover up some of the white embossing slightly.

You can also add more masking to the card. It makes the stamped images appear more connected.

I splattered some ink on the watercolor card before matting it on orange and cream papers. The cardbase is Simon Says Stamp Peacock cardstock. Avoid splattering on the sentiment since that might make it hard to read.

Distress the edges of the watercolor paper and add some sequins.

The Distress Ink blend in a nice way on the images.

The large shell benefitted from darker brown stamping in the shadow areas.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it inspired you to experiment with different papers and inks.

Embossed Oranges Card Tutorial

Hi crafters! Today I have a card tutorial to share of embossed oranges. I am very fond of citrus fruit so this was a fun card to make.

Layers of ink - Embossed Oranges Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

The card was made with the new Simon Says Stamp Sunny Vibes release, using the Lemon Tree embossing folder and cutting dies set. I love these embossing folder and die combos since you can do so many techniques with them. You don't have to use the background, but could also use the oranges on their own. And you get a great circle die that you can use for other projects too.

Layers of ink - Embossed Oranges Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Emboss Simon Says Stamp Lemon Tree.

Start by dry embossing watercolor paper in the Lemon Tree Folder. Mist the paper with water on both sides first. When dry, the paper will feel like watercolor paper which has been stretched.

Layers of ink - Embossed Oranges Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Color with Distress Ink.

Die cut circles and half circles using the coordinating dies. Apply ink to the embossing folder and mist with water. Emboss the oranges and color them at the same time.

When dry, ink just the edges to color the peel orange.

Layers of ink - Embossed Oranges Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Watercolor the orange leaves.

Smear Distress Ink on a non-stick craft sheet, mist with water and watercolor the leaves using a paint brush.

When dry, repeat and splatter the background with ink.

Use a white gel pen or a white paint pen to add white lines to the oranges.

Die cut the banner using Tim Holtz Vault Boutique set and stamp the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Beachcombing with green ink.

Matte the focal panel on Simon Says Stamp Bright Yellow and Orange Peel cardstock and then on folded Green Leaf cardstock.

The card has a summery and fresh look to it, almost making you smell the oranges.
