Hi and welcome! We had another weekend of lovely weather and went to a lake among other things. In Sweden, you are almost never far from a lake and we have quite a few to choose from. I've also been working on some Christmas projects. Today, a new week starts and also a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge of course. This week our challenge is 'tickets'. I love tickets and collect tickets wherever I go, I even still have some tickets left from my childhood.
Instead of using actual tickets, I made a ticket notebook. I try to remember to carry a little notebook/sketchbook around with me. Sometimes, I don't use my notebook for weeks, at other times, I use it often. It is fun to look through and becomes a kind of illustrated journal. The notebook was dressed up with stamps and a dimensional butterfly. Most of the products I used this week are by Prima. The paintbrush stamp was inked up with Watering Can and Red Geranium ink, using black for the sentiment and on parts of the handle.
I used Prima's Timeless Memories A4 papers, which have just the right amount of texture and detail, without overwhelming the pages, since there needed to be place for writing. I die cut twenty pages using the largest ticket in the Sizzix Photo Love set by Lori Whitlock, which is a great die set including 13 different dies. The notebook is 4 x 6 in.
One of my favourite things to do is to take out a bunch of stamps and just sit down and stamp on pages, dressing up the patterned paper with stamps. I love this window stamp by Finnabair.
A butterfly was stamped on Clearly For Art Modeling Film and coloured at the back with Distress Paint. When the paint was dry, I heated the film with my heat gun and shaped it. The film holds its shape perfectly. Just be careful not to burn yourself. The key was distressed with paint.
I bound the book with rings, coloured with brown alcohol ink.
All the inside pages were dressed up with stamps. I added some stamping in red, grey, black and light blue on most of the pages.
I like that it is hard to see which parts are stamps and which details are part of the paper. About four stamps were used on each page, most of them from the Rust and Dust and the Old Town sets by Finnabair.
I hope you will play along with us our ticket challenge and I am looking forward to seeing all the great submissions. Remember that you stand a chance to win a $50 gift voucher by Simon Says Stamp, drawn randomly.
Thank you for dropping by today! I'll be back tomorrow with a tutorial.
Happy crafting!

Oh Anna Karin I love this! Which is no surprise- over the years I've learned to always expect the unexpected with you - and this is great! That butterfly with the key is definitely my favorite detail here. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much May! I like that butterfly too.
DeleteTotally amazing ticket book.

These are some of my favorite projects of yours when you create the books/journals with the stamped pages inside. This is no exception!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue! Yes, I keep making more of those books with stamped pages, it is such fun. :)
DeleteLooks like a very fun project, wonderful details and distressing!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful mini journal. The stamping is fantastic, as always. I like the ticket shape, too.

DeleteLovely ticket notebook Anna-Karin. Love the subtle, muted aged colours and stamped areas. Fabulous idea . Tracy x
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous idea to make a ticket notebook ! Anna- Karin . I love those papers and I too like the way its hard to tell which detail is stamped and which is already part of the paper. Your creativity is hugely admired
ReplyDeleteLove the stamp sets and colors you chose for this project.
ReplyDeleteGee, Anna Karin,
ReplyDeleteYour project is perfect, right down all those little tiny sweet itsy bitsy hearts below the window. I wish my mind worked like that. So cool!
I love your ticket book! Also, you have a terrific imagination because I clicked the link to the Whitlock photo die cuts and when I first saw them I never would have thought to use them as you did. The examples were just too cutesy to me and I guess I couldn't see past that. I sure hope I'm making sense! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, like I said, your project is awesome!! I wish I had talent like that. Thanks so much for sharing and explaining your process!! :-)
Thank you so much Christina! The examples on the packaging only show one way to use a die, and sometimes it can be hard to see past that. Try thinking of the dies in terms of their shapes instead. I often die cut a shape out of plain white paper as soon as I get a new die, to get an idea of its shape and size.

Thank you so much Steph!
DeleteSuch a lovely ticket album! Love the idea! The designs are stunning! Hugs, Sandra
ReplyDeleteYour ticket book is sweet and the cover so artfully speaks what the book's purpose will be.
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous ticket notebook, Anna-Karin. The details on the clovers and each page are amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely amazing Anna-Karin! There is so much work and detail in this mini book, I really don't know how you find the time to make all these fabulous pieces of art but each one just keeps getting better and better! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning project! I am always impressed at how you have so many supplies, awesome sentiments, and images, yet you are a master of "knowing when to say when." The amount of everything, the balance, the colors...it's always JUST right. I think if I tried your tactic of sitting down with a bunch of stamps, I'd end up with a project that looked like my stamps and inks exploded. So kudos to you for having a really deft hand with everything you touch! Just gorgeous here!
