Enough Art Journal Page

Hi and welcome! It is Monday and I hope you had a good weekend! This week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge we have a Ray of Sunshine theme, and we are featuring products by the very creative Dina Wakley

Layers of ink - Enough Art Journal Page by Anna-Karin
Dina's art journaling is very inspiring to me and I had fun reading her Art Journal Courage book again. It is a really great book and contains so much inspiration, and this page was inspired by several ideas from the book. One of the journaling prompts is to journal about five ways you were enough today. I had had one of those days when my to-do lists just seemed to grow and the morning hadn't had a good start. A sunshiny page about being enough was just what I needed. Dina's book also inspired me to do some drawing and I drew a body for one of the Positive Women stamps. She looks a little tired, which was just how I was feeling.

The page in my Dylusions journal first got a coat of gesso. Then I applied Lemon, Magenta, and Lime paint with a palette knife, When it was dry, I smeared some Turquoise on the page and before it dried completely, paint was rubbed off through the Essentials stencil. The next layer was white paint applied through the Daisies stencil, giving a subtle texture.

To make the circles on the page, I used my 4 x 4 circle Gelli Arts™ printing plate. I didn't want my circles quite so large, so I cut freehand circles from printing paper. The plate was placed on an acrylic block, so that it works like a stamp.

Add a tiny bit of Turquoise and Lime paint on the circle and spread out with a brayer. I love Dina's paints by Ranger.

Press a stencil into the paint. This is Dina's Affirmations stencil.

Stamp the plate on the page to transfer the impression. I stamped it once more on scrap paper, which I will use for another project. I drew a line around the circles.

The woman was stamped with Jet Black Ink and I sketched her body, first with a Hickory Smoke Distress Marker and then with a Fude pen. Since the Distress Marker won't dry on the paint and gesso layers, you can just wipe it away. She has her hands in her pocket, partly because it was easier, but also because she is pretty tired, although getting renewed energy from the happy colours of the page. I also gave her longer hair, to look more like myself. To make her stand out better, I painted around her with Turquoise.

The title was stamped with Tim Holtz Worn Letters. I stamped Dina's 'You are enough' sentiment repeatedly on the page. I love the small sentiment stamps you can find on many of Dina's stamp sets.

At the bottom of the page, I stamped some leaves, so that she could be standing nature, something that often gives me renewed energy.

I hope you will join us in our Ray of Sunshine challenge. As always you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
