The
Create Joy release is full of gorgeous dies and stamps. I also really like the name, since to create joy is one of the most important things in life, and not only during the holiday period. You can see the whole release
here. Even though it has a holiday theme, many of the products work for other themes too and are very versatile.
I made an art journal page and a card. When looking at the
Very Merry sentiment set, this one with the cute little house jumped out to me and I decided to make a journal page with it as my theme. I love to build little scenes in my art journal, and here I made a winter one. Whenever I make something with a little house, I wish I could live in that house, if only for a little while. You could just as easily turn this into a card. I took some step photos.
These were the three products from the
Create Joy release that I used:
Very Merry stamps,
Snowflake Borders, and the
Chisholm Wreath.
Start by embossing the sentiment with white powder. I used watercolour paper.
Place a torn sticky note over the sentiment and emboss the
Falling Snow stamp on top. I didn't want snow on the sentiment since it might have gotten hard to read then.
Die cut the
Snowflake Borders three times. I like that the die gives you both the snowflake border and a wavy hill.
If you read my blog, you probably know that I love the Distress Micro Glaze and here I used it to create a textured snowy effect. For more projects using the glaze check out my
Distress Micro Glaze Resist video,
Blueprint Resist Tutorial, Textured Snowflakes tutorial, and
Set Sail Journal page. Smear some Micro Glaze with your finger on the snowflakes, at the top of the hills, around the edges, under the embossed house and here and there on the background.
Smear Distress Inks on your craft sheet, mist with water and press the paper into the inks. Repeat for all the pieces. The glaze resists the ink and creates a cool texture.
Die cut the birds and bow from the
Chisholm Wreath using red and white paper. This is a very detailed die and works great together with the Sizzix
Precision Base Plate.
Die cut a house, tree, hearts, postbox and little birds using the
Home Building set and Simon Says Stamp cardstock.
Stamp
Falling Stars on the roof and
Tiny Alphabet on the house with Slate ink.
Die cut three
Kinley snowflakes from silver
Metallic Kraft-Core paper. I love this paper.
Stamp the bottom of both hills with the Tiny Alphabet stamp and layer the hills and snowflake borders on the background.
Here you might see the texture created by the Micro Glaze a little better. The birds were inked with red and grey Distress inks.
Isn't the house cute? I added the bow to it to create the impression of it being a gift. The post box was layered.
The snowflakes were hard to photograph since they are so shiny. The hearts were also stamped with the stars.
Isn't this a
great sentiment and not only for Christmas. The Micro Glaze added under the house creates the impression of a hill.
I love little birds.
I also made a card. It was a little hard to photograph because of the shiny parts. The
wreath was die cut from the silver paper and I stamped a sentiment from
Very Merry with Slate ink. The birds were die cut from two shades of grey paper and layered to create a shadow. The colour of the cardbase is hard to see here, it is Slate cardstock, with layers of red, lighter grey and silver.
The wreath looks really nice in the silver paper and it gives a great festive feel to the card.
The little bow is so fine and can be used on lots of other projects too.
Don't forget that there are prizes to be won! If you leave a comment, you have a chance to win a price on each stop of the hop. The winners will be drawn next Monday and
Simon Says Stamp will contact them.
