CSI case file #93 - 1 Click, 1 Book

Hello everyone! This week's case file at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration is bright and happy, lots of different alternatives depending on which colour/s you use the most. Check out the DT layouts to see the great variety you can get from one case file.

My layout:

CSI case fil 93 - Layers of ink
I really like the book theme of October at CSI, and decided to scrap about my beloved Kindle. From the evidence list I used: stripes, mixed media background, tags, and numbers. I used tags for my journaling and was inspired by the unexpected theme too.

I did a watercolour background similar to the background on the inspiration photo, with some stamping on top. One of the stamps is a definition of curiosity.

I found a watercolour scrap in my stash which had just the right colours. Book was die cut from the new Tim Holtz fabric and the rest of the title is a mix of stamping and stickers.

I enjoy picking out gelli print papers to use on layouts. This is one of the prints I made in my Gel Printing with Dies and Embossing Folders tutorial. It was made with Tim Holtz Sizzix Artful Dwellings die and Subway Embossing folder. I thought it fit well here with the home and the text from a far away place. The feather, ink pot and pen nibs were die cut from mat board with the new Writing Desk die. The feather was inked green and stamped with a text stamp and the ink pot and pen nibs were painted silver. The striped fabric is also by Tim Holtz, as is the metallic border. There is also text printed tissue paper along the right edge.

A crackle stamp gives a fun look to the ink pot.

I repeated the curiosity definition by using a piece of fabric with the same definition. I stamped a scalloped border stamp on Specialty Stamping paper and inked with Distress Inks.

The tags were die cut from manila cardstock with the Tag & Tie die. I stamped the first tag with an old book stamp, for a contrast between these beautiful and rare handwritten books and the availability of electronic books.

Journaling summary: 'I love books and I wasn't sure at first if I would like to read books on a screen. I spend enough time  in front of the computer and I didn't want a screen shining in my face when reading books. I also really do love the feel and smell of books. However, I immediately fell in love with my Kindle and forget that I am not holding a normal book when reading. I love that it needs light and that the screen is not giving off any light, I love that I can pick my perfect font size, but most of all, of course, I love that I can just with one click and about two seconds have a new book to read. I always liked choosing a new book, and now I have almost limitless choice. I can start reading something the minute a book is released. All my book shelves are already full and my Kindle books take no space.' I also wrote a list of some of my favourite books that I have read on the Kindle so far.

Thank you for looking! Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Tack för fin kommentar och boktips Cissi! Jag ska definitivt ladda ner den boken! Jag är dålig på boktips, har svårt att välja favoriter. Jag tyckte Night Circus var väldigt bra och annorlunda.
