Hello crafters! Today I have a hyacinth flower to share, stamped on patterned paper and then colored with pencils.

Stamping on patterned paper and then using pencils to color the image is one of my favorite techniques. The pencils will cover most of the pattern, but some of it will show through. I particularly enjoy combining this technique with ledger papers. I made an art journal page, but this could just as well be a card instead.

The page was added to my Stamperia Happiness Mixed Media journal, 4x8.5 in.

Add ground with pencils.

Use a black pencil to draw a small hill, some grass and shading. Color with pencils.

Add sentiments from Tim Holtz Palette paper.

I cut the sentiments from Tim Holtz Palette Paper. Ink the edges.

Die cut Simon Says Stamp butterflies.

Die cut butterflies from Pink Palette Paper using Simon Says Stamp Bright Butterflies. The edges were sanded lightly and inked.

I stamped words and numbers from Simon Says Stamp Big Botanicals on the background.

Add Stickles Star Dust to the flower centers.

I used different shades of blue and a purple for the flowers.

Stamp with Simon Says Stamp Vintage Bunnies.

This sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Vintage Bunnies and was stamped on ledger paper. I used the same sentiment yesterday for my Patterned Peony Flower tag.

Adding a grassy hill grounds the flower to the page. Here you can also see how the background paper shines through the pencil coloring.

Little Things was also cut from Palette Paper.

The ticket comes from one of the collage papers from the 8x8 Palette Papers. Stamp a word on the ticket and ink the edges.

Stamped Bird Tag

Hi friends! Today I have a stamped and stenciled tag to share, with a bit of heat embossing and coloring with pencils. You can of course turn the design into a card instead.

Layers of ink - Stamped Bird Tag Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I always like bird stamps and this one is not an exception. It is from Sizzix Studio Stitches Stamps and Stencils, designed by Mark Montano. The set include a stamp set and three 4.75 x 8.125 stencils. The stamped images were colored with pencils and I also added swirly silver embossing.

Stamp Sizzix Mark Montano set.

Start by stamping the bird and the flowers on a tag with Archival Jet Black ink.

Ink with Distress Ink.

Ink the tag with pink and beige shades of Distress Ink.

Color with Prismacolors.

Color the images with pencils. I used Prismacolors. The bird is meant to be a barn swallow.

Add white highlights.

Add highlights with a white gel pen.

Silver emboss swirls.

Silver emboss the flourish from the stamp set here and there.

Stencil blue hearts.

I restamped the flourish with grey Distress Ink, misting with water before stamping, for a shadow effect. Add hearts with one of the stencils from the Stitches Stamps and Stencils set and Salty Ocean ink.

Stamp script text.

Stamp the alphabet stamp all over most of the tag. Avoid getting too much ink on the oval frame. That is why I used a mini ink pad. I got a few lines anyway, but that was okay.

The stamped sentiments come from Simon Says Stamp Heart Suite and cut into strips. Tie the tag with ribbons in the same colors as the bird.

Layer the coloring by starting with the lightest shades. I also added Simon Says Stamp Pawitively Dazzling Gems Lilac and Royal

Ink the edges with Scorched Timber and then distress them.

Die cut Simon Says Stamp Simple Thanks.

The main sentiment was die cut from Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Velvet Paper using the Simon Says Stamp Simple Thanks die. Add a piece of mummy cloth underneath.

Add Simon Says Stamp Royal Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

This is such a pretty floral stamp, you can also make it a star of its own card or tag.

House Mixed Media Tag

Hello crafters! I hope your weekend was good and that you got some crafty time, or a lot!

Please note: this post has affiliate links, for which I receive a small percentage of sales generated by the link, at no extra cost to you.

This week we have a Add Some Texture theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I hope you will join us! Don't miss the gorgeous project by our February guest designer Cassie Lynch.

Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing products by a specific designer/company and this week it is AALL & Create. You can see their stunning range of products here. You don't have to use AALL & Create products to join, but it is fun if you do.

Layers of ink - House Mixed Media Tag Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I made a mixed media tag with a textured background created with word strips, gesso, paint, stamping and a bit of glitter. I used AALL & Create Mindful Moments word strips and Tudor Cottage stamp set. A few bits and pieces on my desk also made it onto the tag.

Adhere AALL & Create Mindful Moments

I started with a tag which had been covered with gesso. A paint bottle lid had been pressed into the gesso. Words from AALL & Create Mindful Moments were glued on the background with Ranger matte medium. Add a layer of medium on top too.

Coat with gesso.

Next, I painted with gesso again, wiping most of it off from the words.

Paint with Distress Paint.

Paint with Distress Paint. Mist with water and wipe some of it off.

Stamp with Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background.

Stamp with Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background and add a little Diamond Stickles around the edges.

Stamp with AALL & Create Tudor Cottage.

Stamp a roof and a house using AALL & Create Tudor Cottage on kraft paper.

Color with Prismacolors.

Color with pencils. I used Prismacolor pencils.

Tie the tag with interesting ribbons and fibers. I enjoy using old ribbons and fibers at the moment.

Add beads.

I also added some old beads to the tag.

This is a fun technique to use with word strips or stickers. You can make some of the words more visible if you want to.

Colored pencils on kraft paper is always fun.

I twisted a wire around the tag and thread two beads on it. I found the paper flower on my desk.

Add Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

I added Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Gunmetal Gems to the tag. Here you can also see the effect of the glitter better.

Join us this week in our Add Some Texture challenge! You have a chance to win a $25 gift voucher to do some fun shopping at Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
