Hummingbird card

Hi crafters! Today I have a colorful card to share using a background from a gel printing session and a great hummingbird die.

This background has been on my desk since my last gel printing session. It is one of the dry embossed papers that I used to add a pattern to the printing plate. I liked the random colors and the mix of color, but hadn't found a project for it yet. Then I happened to look at this new Simon Says Stamp Flourish Hummingbird die and thought it would work good with the background.

I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Flourish Hummingbird from various inky or watercolored papers.

Since I wanted the bird to shimmer, I misted the shapes with Distress Spritz.

I die cut the sentiment from the same leftover paper as the head of the humming bird, using Simon Says Stamp Paper Cut Word Mix 1. The word was then misted with Distress Spritz Picked Raspberry. The matte was die cut from Silver Vellum. 

I wanted to add some flowers and used these from Simon Says Stamp Country Basket Bouquet. They were die cut from gel printed papers and misted with Distress Spritz.

Assemble the bird and glue to the background. The Simon Says Stamp Flourish Hummingbird is from the Every Happiness release.

The dry embossed panel was embossed in Simon Says Stamp Bubble Rings folder. Distress the edges of the dry embossed panel. I stitched around it with my sewing machine.

Shape the flowers with Tim Holtz Shaping Tool Kit and glue together. Add a Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Bubblegum Gems to the center.

Here you can see how shimmery the word and the vellum is. The second part of the title was stamped with Simon Says Stamp A Little Artsy using Salvaged Patina Archival Ink.

Be Original Bird Tag

Hello crafters! I hope your weekend was good and that you got some crafty time. I am happy to be back at my desk after a short break.

This week we have a Funny/Punny theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! And don't miss the project by our August guest designer Cassie Lynch.

I had fun making this tag using Tim Holtz Bird Crazy and Mini Bird Crazy and Things sets. It has been a while since these stamps were inked up. The birds were watercolored with Distress Ink and the background is also a Distress Ink background, with some heat embossing.

Start by stamping the larger bird from Bird Crazy and the smaller bird from Mini Bird Crazy and Things on watercolor paper. I really like that the two sizes face different ways.

Smear Distress Ink on a non-stick craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paint brush.

I added Glossy Accents to the eyes.

The background was done with Distress Ink in several layers, using the ink smooshing technique. Stamp the background here and there with Simon Says Stamp Pepita Background and white emboss.

The main sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Paper Cut Word Mix 1, from the new Every Happiness release. I die cut the word from watercolor paper and painted with the same inks as the birds. The matte was die cut from vellum.

I decided to die cut the word one more time from plain watercolor paper and off-set slightly. Glue to the background. The two smaller sentiments come from Tim Holtz Crazy Talk.

I added cheese cloth behind the birds and adhered them with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Perfect White Foam Tape.

I added two ribbons underneath the birds and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Prism Gems.

Lily Tag Tutorial

Hello stampers! I hope you had a fun weekend! I can't believe that it is already August. At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog we are celebrating the 16th birthday of Simon Says Stamp. 16 years of creativity and fun!

This week we have a Happy Birthday theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing the products by a specific designer/company and this week it is Paper Artsy. You can see all Paper Artsy's wonderful stamps, stencils and other products here. You don't have to use Paper Artsy products to join, but it is fun if you do.

We also have a new guest designer and in August we are welcoming Cassie Lynch back. Don't miss her stunning project. 

I made a birthday tag using stamps, ink and watercolors. It was stamped with Paper Artsy Crocus Edition and Fodder Berry Edition designed by Alison Bomber. The tag was inked and watercolors with bright colors. 

I cut a small tag from watercolor paper and cut the top with an Angle Chomper tool. Stamp the flower stamp from Paper Artsy Crocus Edition.

Paint the flowers with watercolors.

Paint the background with soft shades of brown and green.

Add darker shades of green at the bottom and splatter the tag with brown paint.

The larger tag is Ranger Heavystock tag. White emboss the alphabet stamps from Crocus Edition here and there. I am very fond of alphabet stamps.

Ink with Distress Ink and add a last layer through Tim Holtz Deco Floral.

Distress the edges. Stamp with texture stamps from Paper Artsy Fodder Berry Edition.

I tied both tags with ribbons, fibers and organza.

Add Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Dazzling Prism Gems to the tags.

I also added a few staples here and there.

I decided to turn the flowers into lilies.

The main sentiment was white embossed on vellum with Simon Says Stamp A Little Artsy. Tear the edges and attach with staples. I also added some ribbons.

I hope this project inspired you to create a project mainly with stamps.

Mouse Card Tutorial

Hi crafters! Today I have a cute card to share with you, with an acetate cardbase and see-through elements.

The background has a whole lot of small die cut hearts and was placed on folded acetate, so that you can see through the hearts. Cards with clear elements are such fun to make and a surprise to receive. I used a mix of products by Simon Says Stamp, such as the Drawn Hearts and the very cute Fable Mouse. 

White emboss Simon Says Stamp Nature in Bloom on an inky piece of watercolor paper. The paper had been inked with a mix of Distress Ink and Distress Oxide Ink, by first smearing the inks on a non-stick craft sheet, misting with water and pressing the paper into the ink. 

Die cut Simon Says Stamp Drawn Hearts from the background.

Ink the edges with two shades of brown Distress Ink.

Adhere to a folded piece of Simon Says Stamp Acetate Sheet. 

Die cut the Drawn Hearts again, but this time from Simon Says Stamp Champagne Luxe Glitter Cardstock. Keep the small hearts in the die and glue some of them on the background. It is easier to pick the right heart if you leave them in the die, since the hearts are different from each other.

Die cut a frame using Simon Says Stamp Frames from Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Vellum and from heavystock cardstock. Ink the thin frame with brown Distress Ink.

Die cut Simon Says Stamp Fable Mouse from white Neenah cardstock and from Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy and black cardstock. Ink the white pieces with Distress Ink.

Glue the mouse together and die cut again from black cardstock. Add a dot to the eyes with a white gel pen.

Adhere to the background with foam tape and add a little cheese cloth underneath.

The sentiments were stamped with Hickory Smoke Archival Ink using Simon Says Stamp Be Your Beautiful Self stamp set. Die cut with the coordinating die and then one more time from grey cardstock. The sequins are from Simon Says Stamp Opal Rainbow.

The Luxe Glitter hearts are very pretty and shiny. You might have noticed that I used them on Monday's At the Beach Mixed Media piece too. 

I also added two pieces of ribbon to the card, with mini staples. 

Acetate cards are always a challenge to photograph. Here you can see that the hearts shine through the vellum if the light hits the card in a certain way.

On a white background, the card will get a different look.
