Ledger Journal Page

Hello friends! Today I have an art journaling / scrapbooking page to share, made in Dina Wakley's Ledger Journal.

Layers of ink - Vintage Layout Ledger Journal by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

There is something about the Ledger Journal that makes me want to use photos for the pages. I think it is because I loved to use ledger paper when I did lots of scrapbooking and because ledger papers remind me of my grandfather's and great grandfather's country-side store. Here I used a childhood photo of my Mom.

Ink with Simon Says Stamp Bubbles.

Ink Victorian Velvet through Simon Says Stamp Bubbles stencil. I used to use Victorian Velvet a lot in the past, but not so much lately. I don't even know why. I really do like it.

Stamp with Simon Says Stamp Pepita background.

Stamp Simon Says Stamp Pepita Background with Weathered Wood Distress Ink. I almost never stamp with Distress Ink in this way, without misting with water first, but wanted that splotchy and textured look for this background. The Pepita Background is one of my stamp designs and it was actually inspired by my maternal grandmother, who liked this pattern on clothes.

Mist with Distress Spritz.

Mist through Tim Holtz Flourish stencil with Distress Spritz Saltwater Taffy.

Add 49 and Market ephemera.

The page was embellished with elements from 49 and Market Faded Memory Lane Ephemera and Wildflower Laser Cuts, as well as some elements from Travel Diaries.

Stamp with Tim Holtz stamps.

I stamped the tag with a sentiment from Tim Holtz Warehouse District and Faded Burlap Archival Ink. 'Photograph' comes from that same stamp set. 'Mom' is from Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Meadow.

Add Simon Says Stamp Drawn Hearts.

The small hearts were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Luxe Glitter Cardstock using the Drawn Hearts die.

This sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Wild & Free Flowers.

I really like these large floral laser cuts. The sentiment comes from Tim Holtz Tiny Text.

I inked the edges of some of the ephemera pieces and sanded some. The envelope was folded and inked.

The cameras come from 49 and Market Travel Diaries. My grandfather liked photography and also developed his own photos in his dark room.

49 and Market Wildflower paper cuts.

This page was partly inspired by this large faded flower, since I wanted to use it on something and it is pretty large. The sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Meadow.

There is more ephemera and stamped sentiments here and there.

I also really like photo strips. Lots of old favorite elements on this page.

Happy crafting!

Vintage Road Trip

Hello crafters! I hope you are well and that you had a good weekend with lots of crafty time.

This week we have a Transport It theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I hope you will join us!! And don't miss the stunning project by our September guest designer Debbie Emmons.

Layers of ink - Vintage Car Road Trip tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I thought that the new Simon Says Stamp A7 Notched Rectangles, from the STAMPtember® release, look like tickets and decided to make a ticket shaped card. The theme of the card is taking a road trip in a vintage car. Almost everything on the card was stamped.

Die cut Simon Says Stamp Notched Rectangles.

Start by die cutting a Simon Says Stamp A7 Notched Rectangle from heavystock cardstock. I really like this die cutting set.

Ink with Distress Ink.

I also die cut the smallest rectangle. Smear Distress Ink on a non-stick craft sheet and mist with water. Press the paper into the ink. Let dry and repeat.

Stamp with Tim Holtz Vintage Auto.

Stamp one of the Tim Holtz Vintage Autos on the paper.

Add more stamping.

Add more stamping. I stamped the sentiments with Archival Ink Red Geranium. Turn the small rectangle into a ticket. The sentiment stamps are from: Tiny Text, Curiosity Shop and Road Trip. The compass comes from Tim's Warehouse District and the small stamps are from Correspondence.

Gold emboss.

Stamp some script with the ledger stamp from Tim Holtz Etcetera and gold emboss the grid pattern from Tim's Ultimate Grunge set.

Die cut matte and cardbase.

Die cut A7 Notched Rectangles from gold kraft stock and from red cardstock. Die cut the cardbase by folding the cardstock and placing the cutting edge of the die just above the fold.

Staple the small ticket to the card. I also added some Simon Says Stamp Mini Stars.

I bit of gold embossing folder got stuck to the car. I like stray embossing powder, so I melted it as it was.

Adding a few embossed elements with metallic powders adds a nice finishing touch and an additional texture.

Sailing Card

Hi! Today I have a dry embossed and watercolored card to share, with a summer feeling.

Please note: this post has affiliate links, for which I receive a small percentage of sales generated by the link, at no extra cost to you.

Layers of ink - Sailing Card by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I made a summer card using Simon Says Stamp Sunshine Sailboat embossing folder combined with the Simon Says Stamp Frames set. The background was watercolored and I die cut clouds from velvet cardstock for an additional texture.

Start by die cutting one of the frames from Simon Says Stamp Frames, from watercolor paper. Mist with water and emboss in the Sunshine Sailboat folder.

Paint with Daniel Smith watercolor paint.

Paint the setting sun and the sky with clean water and then immediately with watercolor paint. Let the paints flow into each other and blend. I used peach and yellow for the sun and shades of dark blue for the sky. Paint the water in the same way.

Die cut with Simon Says Stamp Heart Showers die.

I didn't like the look of the cloud on the background and wanted more clouds, so I die cut them with Simon Says Stamp Heart Showers from Pawsitively Velvet Luxury Cardstock Snow.

Stamp with Simon Says Stamp Be Your Beautiful Self stamp set.

Sentiments were stamped with blue Archival Ink using Simon Says Stamp Be Your Beautiful Self set and die cut with the coordinating dies. Die cut the mat one more time from Soft Navy cardstock and off-set slightly.

Paint the boat with brown paint and add a shadow.

Hello was die cut with Simon Says Stamp Scripty Hello from white glitter cardstock and Soft Navy cardstock.

The edges of the focal panel was distressed. I added an outer frame and matted on Soft Navy cardstock. The cardbase was made from Simon Says Stamp Apricot cardstock.

In my first attempt, I didn't use water in the background and wasn't happy with how the colors blended. When watercolor paper has been dry embossed, much of the texture disappears and the paint dries faster giving you less time.

Spring-time fun

Hello friends! It is Monday again and we had such lovely weather yesterday. Spring was in the air. I made a cute spring-time page in my art journal.

Please note: this post has affiliate links, for which I receive a small percentage of sales generated by the link, at no extra cost to you.

This week we have a A Bit o' Green theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I hope you will join us! Don't miss the lovely project by our March guest designer Simona Rebecchi.

Layers of ink - Spring-time fun by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

The green theme and the weather inspired me to make a page with bright spring-time green shades. I used the very cute Simon Says Stamp Hoppy Spring stamp set from the new Beautiful Moments release and aimed for a cartoonish look, but with some texture.

Stamp Simon Says Stamp Hoppy Spring.

Start by stamping the sheep and bunny and two hills. I worked in my Stamperia Happiness Mixed Media journal. As you can see, I messed up the stamping a bit on one of the sheep, but that won't really be visible later.

Paint with watercolors.

Paint the animals with watercolor paint. I used Daniel Smith watercolors.

Paint the grass and sky.

Mix a bright spring-green and paint the grass. I dropped in Ultramarine Blue and Lunar Black for shadows, but also to make the foreground darker. I used more diluted green for the furthest hill. Paint the sky with Ultramarine Blue, dab clouds with kitchen paper and add a shadow.

I stamped sentiments from Tim Holtz Tiny Text and repeat-stamped the word 'spring' with one of the stamps from Hoppy Spring.

Stamp sentiments.

I also used a black pen to add some lines and shading.

Leaves some of the paper showing, for highlights.

These stamps are really cute. I added white and yellow flowers with a gel pen and a paint pen.

This is my favorite of the three. I used a little Lunar Black which added granulation and also hid the stamping mistakes.
