Frosty Snowman

My first Christmas card of the year, I often have the intention of starting with Christmas cards early, but rarely do (and one hardly counts). I made it for Daria's Christmas in July challenge at the Stamping Board on Two Peas.

The snowman was die-cut from plastic packaging and embossed with a bubble folder. I added a bit of silver paint around the edges. I cut him out one more time, from a scrap of watercolour paper that had been painted with blue watercolours and left to dry under crumbled up cling wrap (see this post for this technique). The two pieces were stapled together and the snowman got a scarf from twine.

The background was made by stamping an embossing folder with a reflections text stamp using Archival Jet Black ink. A piece of kraft cardstock was embossed, leaving the snowflakes without stamped text and the text looks embedded into the background. I misted it with Turquoise Perfect Pearls and inked it with Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans Distress Inks. You can see the shine better here:

There is also a snowflake die-cut from packaging and layered on the background.

In my scraps I found a little Christmas print of me as a child. I added that to the card, together with a bit of washi tape, a ribbon rose, and a tattered banner with the sentiment stamped on top (translates ‘merry christmas’).

Thank you for visiting!

  1. Love this card - I really like the frosty coloured Christmas card. The embossed background is marvellous with the Reflections text, and the patina on your snowman is super!
