Hi friends! I hope you are well and healthy! Today, I have a quick tutorial about coloring with colored pencils on kraft paper, something that works particularly well for autumn-themed projects since the kraft background naturally tints the colors.
I made a tag, but the techniques are great for cardmaking too or in your art journal. I used the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit, but you can also get just the stamp set separately.
Ink around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Stamp the tag with the SSS Old Letter 1878 background stamp and Khaki ink, just to add some texture.
Add details and highlights with a white gel pen.
I stamped 'smile' from the Big Thanks set here and there on the tag. The sentiments come from the SSS Sentiment strips included in the November Card Kit. I also added even more ink to the edge by dragging it along the ink pad, after distressing.
The main sentiment was placed on top of a piece of lace trim.
The shading adds life to the sunflowers. I also added autumn sequins here and there. I know, there are sequins on a lot of my projects at the moment. They are such a fun final touch.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. For more inspiration on colored pencils on kraft paper check out my: Steampunk Gnome, Smiles Mini-Album, and Autumn Tree on Kraft Art Journal Page. And for more inspiration regarding sunflowers and colored pencils, see my Sunflowers with Colored Pencils tutorial.
