25 days of Christmas tags

Hello friends! Today, the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog team is taking part in the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event by Tracey McNeeley.

Our theme this week is Christmas Tag. Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing products by a specific designer/company and this month it is Simon Says Stamp. You can see the wonderful range of SSS exclusive products here. You don't have to use SSS products to join, but it is always fun if you do.

Since it is a new month, we also have a new guest designer and during November Laura Cassina aka elaborando on instagram will be sharing projects with you. Don't miss checking out her gorgeous account.

Slimline cards are popular now and inspired me to do a slimline tag, which is narrower and taller than an ordinary tag. My tag is: 2.6 x 7.7 in and I used the Simon Says Stamp Slimline Scene Builder stamp set to create my winter scene.

Start by white embossing the hill from the SSS Slimline Scene Builder.

Next, ink up the larger background stamp with three shades of blue/turquoise Distress Ink. I applied the ink in the order that the pads are placed on the photo. Mist with water and stamp above the embossed hill.

Trim the edges and cut angled corners with the Angle Corner Chomper tool, which is a fantastic tool if you want to make your own tags. It is hard to cut even angles by hand. Make a hole with a Crop-a-Dile.

Ink the trees with Blueprint Sketch, mist with water and stamp on the background.

Add more snow by white embossing the two dot stamps. These are meant to be stamped over the trees, but are also perfect for stamping snow or other dots in the background.

Apply texture paste at the base, but don't cover up all the embossing.

Apply a little Moon Dust Stickles to the background for a glimmer effect.

I also used SSS Seaglass sequins and the tag was tied with mummy cloth.

The sentiment was stamped with two colors SSS ink: Island Blue and High Dive. Mount on a piece of torn SSS vellum.

These trees look lovely watercolor stamped.

I liked the combination of the white dots in the background, the white embossed dots, glitter and then the sequins.

Apply a little Moon Dust Stickles on the texture paste too. I also added another piece of vellum.
