Hi friends! We have had a good Easter. Anton and I made some marzipan figurines, and some pretty ugly, but good, dinosaur chocolates. Yesterday, we had a very windy outing to a neighbouring town at a lake. The ice on the lake is melting and very cool ice formations had been created at the shoreline. It is Monday and this week at the
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge we are
Seeing Things Clearly and using transparent elements, something that is a favourite of mine.
I was planning to make a transparent tag, but when I was looking through some embellishments I came up on Tim Holtz new
Mini Pocket Watches and decided to make myself a necklace instead. My clear element is the glass in the pocket watch.
I used an old photo of my grandmother and mom and cut it into a circle. The lid of a Distress Paint bottle was used to trace the circle, since it was the perfect size. The edges of the photo were sanded slightly. My grandmother's favourite colour was turquoise, so I coloured a
Mirrored Heart with
Stream alcohol ink. The sentiment comes from the
Small Talk set, but I cut the stickers smaller and distressed them with Antique Linen Distress Ink, so that they would fit.
Then, I remembered a tiny package of clock parts that I bought over ten years ago and was pretty pleased to be able to find it within less than three minutes. They were glued with
matte multi-medium. It wasn't quite dry in this photo, you can no longer see the adhesive.
To fit with the clock theme, I used two
Sprocket Gears on the necklace, a brass and a copper coloured one. I like mixing different metals.
You can use lots of different Tim Holtz idea-ology pieces on a necklace. For more inspiration check out my
Family Locket Necklace, which is loaded with idea-ology items.
I also used some glass beads that I bought really long ago.
Glue the back of the watch to the front, making sure to first clean the glass and that no dust gets trapped inside. The
Mini Pocket Watches would be great embellishments for 3-D projects too.
I'll have fun wearing this necklace, although I maybe not when Leo is around, because he is now the age when he loves to pull necklaces (and earings!).
I hope you will join us in our
Transparent challenge. As every week, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from
Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
If you use instagram add
#sssmchallenge to your challenge entry uploads, so that we can see them on there too.

Thank you so much for visiting today!
Happy crafting!
