Hello stampers! It is STAMPtember®, the best month of the creative year.

STAMPtember® is a month-long celebration of stamping at Simon Says Stamp, with inspiration, new products and many surprises. There is also a big new exclusive STAMPtember® release.

We have a Stamp It theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week. Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing a specific company and in honor of  STAMPtember® it is Simon Says Stamp and their range of exclusive products. You don't have to use their products to join, but it is fun if you do.

We also have new guest designer and during September is Deborah Emmons. You can find her creative projects in her Instagram account.

Layers of ink - Mouse Tag with Resist Background Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Some of the leaves are starting to turn here now, so I thought it was time for my first autumn project of the year. My tag features a cute little mouse in a fall forest. I used a resist technique for the background, which works great with stamps with solid areas and can be combined with other stamps, such as crackles, text, dots and other texture stamps.

Start by inking a tag with Distress Ink, using an ink-blending tool.

When the ink is dry, stamp with Simon Says Stamp Leaves Background and emboss with clear embossing powder. Always be careful when using a heat tool and do not touch the melted powder until it has cooled down completely.

Ink with green and brown Distress Inks. If you want contrast, you need to use quite dark inks. The darker ink will also cover up most of the crackle stamping in the areas that aren't emboss, which makes it appear as if the crackles are only on the leaves.

I added dots with a white gel pen.

Layers of ink - Mouse Tag with Resist Background Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Color with pencils.

Color the image with colored pencils and die cut with the coordinating die. I used a grey pencil on the background areas which were still white and inked around the image with brown ink. I use Very Very Low Tack Tape to hold the die in place when die cutting.

I like to use this technique with stamps that have larger solid areas, and this leave stamp was great for that.

The sentiment comes from Happy Days too.

The leaves were die cut from old back paper using Simon Says Stamp Windswept Leaves. Ink the edges slightly. I also added sequins as berries.
