Heart Puzzle Pieces

Hi stampers! It is Monday again and a new week. I hope you had a good weekend!

This week we have a Love Is In The Air theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I hope you will join us! Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing products from a specific company/designer and this week it is Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products. You can find the whole amazing range of stamps, dies, stencils, inks, papers and other products here. You don't have to use them to join, but it is always fun if you do.

We also have a new guest designer and during February Susan Babcock aka Susanbcards will join us. Don't miss stopping by her blog to see what she has created for you.

Layers of ink - Puzzle Valentine's Card Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I made two Valentine's Day cards for the boys, with a fun dimensional puzzle heart piece as a focal point. The background is done with a resist technique.

I wanted the puzzle heart to look like real puzzle pieces and die cut the Simon Says Stamp Piece of My Heart quite many times from thin chipboard. This die is from the Simon Says Stamp And Back Again release.

Glue them together to form thick and sturdy puzzle pieces.

Ink watercolor paper with Distress Inks and die cut the puzzle pieces again. Put them together and stamp the cutie from Love Day on one and a butterfly from Beautiful Butterflies on the other. The butterfly was inked with orange, yellow and brown Distress Inks and misted with water before stamping.

Stamp the Simon Says Stamp Tossed Hearts on heavystock paper using two shades of Distress Oxide Ink. Emboss with clear embossing powder. Always be very careful when using a heat tool and never touch the melted powder until it has cooled down completely.

Ink with Distress Inks and mist lightly with water.

When dry, stamp one of the backgrounds with the Simon Says Stamp Old Letter Background and the other with the Halftone Circle. Wipe the ink off from the embossed areas.

This card is for my youngest. He loves Simon Says Stamp Holographic paper, so I die cut the puzzle from one of those and cut out the little cute animal.

Here you can see the holographic effect better. It is pretty cool.

The label was stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels set and the sentiment comes from Love Day.

Here you can see the dimension and chipboard edge of the puzzle pieces.

The card for my oldest has the orange butterfly that we had living in at home during a couple of cold weeks in December. I made an art journal page about that, which you can find here

I inked the edges of the pieces before putting them together.

You can get thick designs with wafer-thin dies if you glue them together.

The background will have a slightly distressed look, since there will be a texture created by the dots in the background which were not embossed.

I hope you will join us this week in our Love Is In The Air theme. You have a chance to win a $25 gift voucher to do some fun shopping at Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
