Steampunk Dog Tutorial

Hello friends! I hope you had a fun weekend! I picked the first blueberries of the season. They are not quite ready yet, but still delicious.

We have a Fun and Quirky theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week. I hope you will join us! Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing products from a specific designer/company. This week it is KatzelKraft.  You can see their wonderful range of stamps here. You don't have to use Katzelkraft products to join, but it is always fun if you do.

We also have a new guest designer and during July Megumi aka Ink-Lady Blue is joining us. Don't forget to stop by her blog to see what she has created for you.

I made a fun steampunk card with the KatzelKraft Robot Chien stamp. The dog is meant to look like copper with patina. There is quite a bit of metallic shine on this card too.

Start by stamping the Robot Chien on a Tim Holtz Journal Card.

Color the dog with colored pencils. I used Faber-Castell Polychromos

I had a left-over inky piece of watercolor paper on my desk and decided to use it. There was also some ink left in my Simon Says Stamp Lumen embossing folder, from my Photo Slide Frames project. I didn't clean it, but instead let that ink become a part of the background.

Add a tiny bit of Sizzix Rose Gold Luster Wax to the dog and quite a lot on the embossed background.

The card was inked with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso. Stamp a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Dandelion Messages and doodle a ground with a black pen. I also stamped the Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background with Smoke ink, here and there.

The dry embossed background with the metallic wax gives a really great texture.

Stamping crackles in the background is one of my favorite things.

Here you can see the wax effect better. It might cover up some of the details, so don't add too much wax. You can also add back details with a pen.

The idea-ology pieces were distressed with Peacock Feathers Distress Paint.
