Hello friends! I hope you had a fun weekend! It is Monday and we are back with a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme.
This week our theme is 'Frame It' and I hope you will join us in the challenge. Our guest designer for May Simona Rebecchi aka Ginny and the Sheep has created another wonderful project for you, don't miss it.
I like photo slide frames and have fond memories of holding frames up towards a light as a child, to try to see the image. I wanted to create distressed old photo slide frames for this project and happened on some old photos on my desk, from when I was about 15. The two bottom ones are photo booth images and I remember that my friend and I tried to look as serious as possible on some photos, for fun.
Since I like photo slide frames I included one on the Mix and Match Squares stamp set. It is in its original size too. You can stamp it in any color, but today I wanted a light colored distressed look. I inked the frame up with various combinations of Distress Ink, removed some ink with a paper towel, misted with water and stamped on watercolor paper. I liked how they turned out.
Glue a piece of acetate or Clearly For Art Modeling Film to the back of the window and color it on the back with alcohol ink. I used the alcohol ink blending solution to remove some of the ink from the area covering the face.
For the background I used Simon Says Stamp Lumen embossing folder. It is such a gorgeous pattern. Mist Distress Spray Stain directly on the embossing folder. Mist water on a heavystock tag. Emboss and the ink will transfer to the tag.
When dry, I used Sizzix Effectz Luster Wax on the tag. These waxes are beeswax based and give a wonderful shine. I used the Gold and the Rose Gold colors. You need a tiny amount.
I inked the edges of the frames and stamped sentiments and a star border from Mix and Match Squares.
I also added some idea-ology pieces, such as Sprocket Gears and Game Spinners.
This sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Butterflies.
I rubbed Rose Gold wax into the letters on the Thought Token. The letters shine and glimmer.
The background is very shiny and the combination of ink, embossing and the luster wax gives a lot of texture.
The Heirloom Roses were colored with alcohol ink, using Turquoise and Mushroom.
I hope you will join us this week in our Frame It challenge. You have a chance to win a $25 gift voucher to do some fun shopping at Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
