Learn to Pause Tutorial

Hello all! We finally have warmer weather and I hope it will stay for a while. This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog we have a coffee or tea challenge.

I used to dislike coffee, but started drinking it while I was finishing my thesis, for the long hours of editing and re-editing. Since then, I love my cup of coffee in the morning. This art journal, in my large Dylusions journal, is about coffee and about the need to relax now and then. I used a bunch of different Tim Holtz products here and took some step photos.

Start by applying Texture Paste over most of the page, using the Flourish stencil. Leave to dry in between applications, so that you don't smear what you have already done.
When the paste is dry, mist with Antique Linen and Pumice Stone, as well as with water. Later I splattered some Walnut Stain on the page too.

To make the coffee cup panel, I used Sizzix Inksheets together with watercolor paper. To use the Inksheets, you need a Transfer pad. Here you can see the embossing folder, paper embossed together with the Inksheet and the white Inksheet. As you can see, the Inksheet has been transferred to the paper.

Mist with Gathered Twigs and the white from the Inksheet will resist the ink. I love getting even more out of my dies and embossing folders, and the Inksheets are great for that, since they turn them into stamps. To read more about the Inksheets, you can check out this and this tutorial of mine.

The cups were die cut from watercolour paper. I also die cut them from Simon Says Stamp Masking Sheet, and used just the top (inside of the cup), and the bottom of the plate, to mask out those sections.

The Floral background stamp was perfect to recreate the look of a set of china I had as a child. White emboss it on the cups (I forgot to take a photo of this step). Remove the masking tape. Smear Distress Inks on your craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paint brush. Watercolour the flowers.

Stack the cups on top of each other on the page. I was happy with the porcelain look of the cups.

I wanted a doily too, and white embossed a doily stamp from the Mini Ornates set. It was coloured with the same Distress Inks as used on the cups.

The sentiment was stamped on Mixed Media paper and cut out.

I used a Relax die by Simon Says Stamp, and a fun Photobooth image. The lace was dyed with the Distress Spray Stains.

The quote was printed on mixed media paper and adhered to the page. The crumbled up paper was stamped with a newspaper background stamp by Stamper's Anonymous, misted with water, inked and crumbled up. The coffee cup were meant to look as if they are standing on a newspaper on a table with a lace table cloth.

As always, you might be the one lucky to win the $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp, if you participate in the challenge. We love to see all the creations every week.

Thank you so much for stopping by here today!

Happy crafting!
