Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Today I have a tag tutorial to share, made with Tim Holtz new Rustic Wilderness Distress color. The rustic wilderness is very much my place and I love the name of the color. My tag has a forest theme. This weekend I took two long forest walks. Both were in fairly misty and grey weather, but the forest is beautiful in any weather.
I love green and Rustic Wilderness is a gorgeous shade of green, somewhere in between Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint. I have done tags with the other new Distress colors too. It is a fun way of trying out the new color and I like the monochromatic look. You can find the Speckled Egg tag here and the Crackling Campfire tag here.
Start by white embossing the large tree from Tim's Winterscape set and then only the trees from the stamp with the cabin. The pine-cone was stamped in the top right corner and the dots here and there as snow/rain/mist.
Smear Pumice Stone and Rustic Wilderness on a craft sheet, mist with water and press the tag into the ink.
When the ink is dry, repeat the process with only Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink and then again with just a little Distress Oxide Ink. This adds texture and layers.
Ink the stamps with Rustic Wilderness, mist with water and over stamp, offsetting them a little to create a shadow effect.
Emboss a Theories Quote Chip with Rustic Wilderness Embossing Glaze.
Dye a piece of mummy cloth with Rustic Wilderness Spray Stain.
All these shades of green come from Rustic Wilderness.
The Thought Token was painted with a little Rustic Wilderness Distress Paint and the words highlighted with white.
These tree stamps from Winterscape are really nice. I have a thing for tree stamps.
I picked some Clippings Stickers to go with the sentiment and feel of my tag.
I also die cut branches with the Funky Floral 2 die, from white heavystock paper. They were inked in the same way as the background of the tag.
This is one of my favorite sentiments. It comes from J.R.R. Tolkien.
The Distress Oxide ink gives an blue effect and the opaque look adds to the layered effect.
I absolutely love this tag, Anna-Karin. The layers of rustic wilderness are stunning

Thank you so much Alison!
DeleteI am in love with the green shade of Rustic Wilderness as well. No forest around us, but there is a nice Arboretum Park across the street from our house and I love to walk on the walking track and watch the birds and squirrels run about looking for food...there used to be years ago, one squirrel that would come to me and take peanuts out of my hand...I miss that little squirrel...LOL...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment! The park sounds like a lovely place to walk. I love watching squirrels run around. It must have been fun with such a brave little squirrel. / Anna-Karin
DeleteWow! You stun me with your beautiful tags and this one is the exception to the rule. Green is my fav color and this one is awesome!! You could make an instructional book illustrating all your tags and I would be the first in line.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comment!
DeleteLove this tag - I live in the Green Mountain State (Vermont) and these colors are like home to me.
