Ink, stamps and glitter

Hello crafters! I hope you had a fun weekend! We had a mix of rain and sunshine, with the rain being much needed. The boys have been careful to save and release every bee that by mistake ended up indoors. Today I have an inky and glittery tag to share with you.

We have a 'It's a man thing' as our challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week. Don't miss the project by our June guest designer Sandra Rupp with her beautiful blog SR Paperlove.

I made a tag with a Sideshow stamp by Tim Holtz, and lots of ink and glitter. I used a fun glitter technique using the new Ranger Stickles. This is actually my second project with the technique, the first one will be posted tomorrow. I made a tag, but as always the techniques work great for other types of projects too.

Ink the tag with Distress Inks. I applied the ink to create a grassy area and sky.

When dry, stamp with bricks and blocks from the Ultimate Grunge set. I used SSS Green Leaf ink and Archival Ink Manganese Blue.

Apply Matte Texture Paste through a stencil with a palette knife. The paste will pick up some color from the inking below it, which gives a nice variation in color.

When the paste is dry, place the stencil back over the tag and apply Stickles Moon Dust with a palette knife. This is a fantastic technique to use with the new Ranger Stickles jars. Clean the stencil immediately.

Here you can see the glittery paste harlequin pattern. The new Stickles jars have larger bits and pieces of glitter, stars etc. inside, which gives a really great sparkly result. I added some Field Notes Snippets ephemera to the tag (making sure not to cover up the word 'fly') and a Sprocket Gear.

The paste absorbed more of the green than the blue ink so the harlequins on the green areas have a lovely green shade.

The sentiment from the SSS Luck and Hugs set was stamped on a label from Field Notes. There is also a piece of Design Tape.

I was in a hurry when I applied the Stickles and didn't hold the stencil properly still, so some of the Stickles ended up at the side. But I was okay with that.
