Saturday morning and time for another CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenge. Remember to stop by the site to check out the layouts of the design team. Here’s this week’s case file:
From the evidence items I used: clouds, flowers, something translucent. And from the testimony items: start your journaling with A is for…Such a fun inspiration image too, it inspired especially my background and the pink clouds.
This layout of my son and my mom is done on watercolour paper. The vines were first white embossed, then the clouds were stamped with Distress Inks (Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick) and embossed with clear powder, to protect them from the next step. I inked up my Sizzix Big Shot cutting pad with Scattered Straw, Crushed Olive, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Ink, misted with water and with some Perfect Pearls mixed in water and then stamped the cutting pad on the layout. You can do this technique with acrylic blocks too, but it the cutting pad was the perfect size for my layout. Grasses were stamped at the bottom of the page.
The flowers were inked with Distress Markers onto the rubber (Spun Sugar, Marigold, Worn Lipstick, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint), misted with Perfect Pearls and water and stamped on watercolour paper. The row of butterflies were white embossed on vellum and coloured at the back with a pink pencil. I also found a butterfly in my scraps which worked well with the colours. The journaling spot was stamped with Archival Jet Black ink.
Journaling: ‘G’ stands for ‘Grandma’. You are lucky to have such a wonderful grandmother, who loves you very much. Here you are together outside the house on her birthday, when you were about 6 months old.’ I wrote some more things at the back of the layout.
Thank you for looking!
