Cross-country Skiing: CSI case file #22

I hope your Saturday has started in a nice way! This week we have another gorgeous case file at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration, remember to check out the site to see the fabulous work of the design team. Every week the variety of layouts resulting from the same case file amaze me.
The inspiration photo looks very Norwegian to me, and also made me think of winter, so I decided to scrap some cross-country skiing photos taken on a trip to Norway, on a very cold day.

From the evidence items I used: ribbons, wet medium, fibers. From the testimony: journal about three wishes. For the background I first applied gesso through a stencil, then removed the stencil and added more gesso to an area inside the corner. Snowflakes die-cut from grungepaper and painted first white and then pearl were pressed into the wet gesso – no need for adhesive. I also sprinkled silver microbeads into the gesso. When it was dry, I painted and dropped Rock Candy Distress crackle paint here and there, and when that was dry, Faded Jeans ink was rubbed into the cracks. The rest of the cardstock was stamped with a texture stamp and white acrylic paint. When placed together the two pages kind of form a snowy mountain. The flourishes were die-cut from grungepaper, painted red, coated with Rock Candy crackle paint and when dry, Faded Jeans ink was rubbed into the cracks.

Here are photos of each page on its own:

The journaling was written on three stamped journaling spots.

The gesso, pearl snowflakes, micro beads, crackle paint and white paint stamping give a nice frosty look.

The trees were die-cut from Core’dinations cardstock (Stormy Sky), sanded, the trunks were inked with Frayed Burlap and then the trees were covered with Rock Candy Distress Stickles for an icy look. You see it better on the photo below.

The big circle cardstock was stamped with snowflakes, but you don’t see them well now that the photos are added on top. I also used some cheesecloth for snow and a bunch of different ribbons, which fit with both the inspiration photo and the topic.

Thank you for looking!! Have a great weekend!
