From the evidence items I used: sandy texture, sanding, ruffles, animal accents, and wet medium. And from the testimony items: I wrote a haiku – have never done that before, it was fun. My layout is also about childhood memories.
For the background, I applied gesso with a palette knife through a wood grain stencil, fun textured effect which fit with the photo. The two pieces of Core’dinations cardstock have been dry embossed and sanded. The journaling block doily was white embossed on vellum. The chickens were stamped with brown ink and coloured with Distress Ink, water and Perfect Pearls.
The branch was die cut from grungeboard, painted green and embossed with Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder. The two birds were stamped and embossed with Antique Linen Distress embossing powder, creating a sandy looking texture.
The title is stamped on a Tattered Banner die cut.
The flowers were stamped, embossed and a bit more colour was sponged onto them.
The little haiku translates: ‘A beautiful spring day, Daffodils and Tulips, many memories are awakened’. I journaled more on the tag tucked in behind the one embossed panel. I used a fun way of journaling that I like to sometimes do on childhood photos. I wrote about all the details I can see in the photo, the glass plates that I used to love and on which we often ate pancakes, the glasses we are drinking from, our clothing made by my mom (blouses with strawberries), the fact that it must have been Easter due to the Daffodils on the table, the ties in my hair which were my favourites, and memories from the place in the garden where we are sitting. I also added some thoughts about our ages, that my mom is holding the camera, and that we had been eating ice-cream cake (I saw this from another photo from the same occasion).
Thank you for visiting! Have a happy weekend! I will be back later today with this week's Card Patterns card.
