Red and Pink Flowers

Hi friends! Today I have a tag to share, using red and pink flowers on a textured black and white background.

Black and white backgrounds are fun to make and make any color pop. I used Tim Holtz Floral Outline stamps and the coordinating Simon Says Stamp Floral Outline die set. In Tim's Serendipity Collage Paper set there is an image which corresponds with the Floral Outline and I used that in the background here to give the look of the same flowers both in color and in black and white.

I started out with a tag that had been coated with gesso using a palette knife. The lid of a paint bottle had been pressed into the gesso. When dry, paint with watered-down Hickory Smoke.

Here you can see the Serendipity collage paper that is almost the same design as one of the Floral Outline stamps.

Adhere with a layer of Collage Medium under and above the image.

Stamp the Floral Outline on watercolor paper. I used all three images from the set.

Die cut with the coordinating dies. In the Simon Says Stamp Floral Outline set there are coordinating dies for both the entire images and a single flower from each stamp. I only used the single flowers.

The May Arts Faux Wrinkled Silk Ribbon were dyed with the same colors Distress Ink that I used for the flowers.

The textured background is accentuated with the black and grey paints.

I used a Tim Holtz Theories Quote Strips for the title. The vellum leaves were die cut with Simon Says Stamp Tattered Leaves.

I added some marks with a black pen and a white gel pen to the flowers.

And a couple of Small Talk stickers.

You can use a black and white background for many types of projects and it will work with any additional color.

Postage Stamp Notebook

Hello crafters! Today I am happy to have a tutorial on the Simon Says Stamp store blog.

Layers of ink - Postage Stamp Notebook Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Ever since I was a small child, I liked notebooks, sketchbooks and journals. Big ones, small ones, pretty ones, interesting ones and almost any type of notebook. I still like notebooks just as much and often make my own. Today, I am going to share an easy notebook/sketchbook with a stitched spine.

When I saw Tim Holtz Postmarked Sticker Book, I thought it would look great to cover an entire notebook front cover with the colorful stamps. The stamps are so pretty that all you need to add is a title and some sentiments. If you don’t want to make a notebook, you can use the cover design on a card instead.

To see the tutorial and all the details, head over to the Simon Says Stamp Store blog

Shimmery Art Journal Page

Hi friends! It is Monday again and we are back with a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Please note: this post has affiliate links, for which I receive a small percentage of sales generated by the link, at no extra cost to you.

This week our theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is Sparkle & Shine. Don't miss the project by our August guest designer Carrie Swift aka Redfire Studies.

We are back from a couple of weeks at the coast with my family. I enjoyed sketching and watercoloring seaside landscapes. But it is also good to be back at my desk again. For this week's challenge I made an art journal page with lots of shimmer and shine. I used a mix of new Simon Says Stamp from the Cheering for You release and Tim Holtz products.

Start by white embossing the Simon Says Stamp Old Letter background on watercolor paper.

Smear Distress Inks on a non-stick craft sheet, mist with water and press the paper into the ink. The embossing will resist the ink.

When dry, mist with various Tim Holtz Distress Spritz colors.

Stamp here and there with Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background and distress the edges.

When the paint was dry, I tore pieces of Tim Holtz Archives Collage Paper and adhered to the background with matte medium. Add a layer of medium on top too. The paint with Distress Paint and mist with water to blend. Splatter with a little Distress Spritz.

Mist Unchartered Mariner Distress Spritz through the Bubble stencil. Mist a little Twisted Citron here and there too.

Die cut Simon Says Stamp You from Tangerine glitter cardstock, Color Blend cardstock and black cardstock. Glue together.

I also stamped a bunch of sentiments on the background, picking words and sentences which fit with the theme. The birds come from Hero Arts Sunset over Waves.

The Distress Spritz misting through the stencil is uneven and imperfect, mainly since the background is acrylic paint and medium. I stamped the Crackle Background on a few places on the background of the page too.

The bodies of the birds were die cut one more time from black cardstock, so that the birds would stand out better from the background.

It is hard to capture all the shimmer and shine on a photo.

The second word of the title comes from Simon Says Stamp You stamp set, which coordinate with the die.

The Distress Spritz gives an interesting effect, looking different from different angles. The Twisted Citron Spritz, for example, only looks green when the light hits the background from a specific angle.

This week our theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is Happy Birthday and we are celebrating a very special birthday, namely the 14th birthday of the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing products by a specific designer and this week it is Simon Says Stamp Exclusive range of products. You can find all the wonderful stamps, dies, embossing folders. stencils, papers, sequins and so much more here.

We also have a new guest designer and during August Carrie Swift aka Redfire Studies will join us. Check out her Instagram account and see what she has created for you.

I made a fun art journal page about no other than Simon Says Stamp's birthday. The Simon images comes from the packaging of Simon Says Stamp exclusive products. The page started out with only the five colorful 'you' which I had stamped with Distress Oxide Ink and without much of a plan.

Layers of ink - Happy Birthday Art Journal Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Stamp Simon Says Stamp You.

Start by stamping YOU from Simon Says Stamp You stamp set, from the new Cheering For You release. It was stamped with five colors Distress Oxide Ink on Specialty Stamping paper. I used the MISTI so that I could stamp more than once to get a completely inked impression.

Coat the page with gesso and when dry add Texture Paste through Simon Says Stamp Mix and Match Circles stencils. Let dry and repeat to cover the whole page. I worked in my Dylusions Small Creative Journal.

Paint with watered-down Distress Paint, Lost Shadow and a little Hickory Smoke. The mist with a little Walnut Stain Distress Spritz.

Die cut all the words with the coordinating YOU word die.

I like how the Distress Oxide Ink gives almost a multi-colored look to the words.

I cut out Simon from product packaging and glued to the background.

I really like the new You stamp set, with the large word and all the great sentiments, which work for so many different occasions.

Kids Summer Vacation Challenge

Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Kid's Summer Vacation Challenge! This is a special challenge dedicated to young designers and crafters.

The theme is Anything Goes

It is time for all you crafters to let your children loose in your crafty corners for a few hours. Just close your eyes and set them free to explore their creativity. Adults are allowed to help just a little bit if necessary, but we really want the children to 'DO IT' themselves as much as possible.

This challenge is open to all children aged between 2 and 16 inclusive

We have not 1, not 2 but 3 surprise parcels of crafty goodies, hand picked by Simon. All winners are chosen at random, Good Luck to all!

Kids Summer Vacation Challenge

Leo, my youngest, loves sea animals and made a seascape with beads.

Layers of ink - Beaded Seascape Kids Summer Challenge.

Leo beaded six animals for the scene. The jellyfish glows in the dark. We found a background online and printed it on two colors Simon Says Stamp cardstock. He cut off the top of the sand paper. The seagrass was colored with colored pencils. The bubbles were colored with a white acrylic paint pen.

Do you use Instagram? If so, please add this hashtag so that we can find you #ssskidschallenge

This challenge will remain open until 8am EST on 31st August. The winners will be drawn at random as soon as possible after the challenge closes.

Thank you so much for stopping by here today!

Happy crafting!
