Snowy watercolor hills

Hi friends! I created another winter landscape in one of my art journals. If you look closely on the main photo, you will also see that it was softly snowing when I took the photo.

Layers of ink - Snowy Watercolor Hills by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I wanted to use the smaller snowman from Tim Holtz Mr Frostie and placed him in a made up landscape of rolling, snowy hills. This is easy to do with pens, stamps and watercolors. The snow is both splattered and white embossed.

The larger snowman stamp from Mr Frostie is already in this art journal. You can find that tutorial here.

Stamp Tim Holtz Mr Frostie.

Working in my Stamperia Create Happiness Mixed Media journal (4x8.5), I stamped Mr Frostie on the lower part of the page and drew hills with a pencil.

Draw the hills.

Use a waterproof pen to draw the hills and add texture. Make the lines thicker towards the front to add depth.

White emboss branches.

White emboss snow in the sky part and pine branches at the base of the page. I use Simon Says Stamp Embossing Ink and White Embossing Powder.

Paint with Daniel Smith watercolors.

I used Daniel Smith Lunar Black and Phthalo Blue Red Shade for the shadows in the hills. Make the darker towards the front.

Paint more hills.

Continue painting the shadows and remember to leave some of the paper white.

Next paint the sky with the same colors and paint the snowman.

Next, I splattered the page with Winsor & Newton Permanent White gouache.

Stamp sentiments with Tim Holtz Tiny Text Christmas.

I stamped sentiments with Tim Holtz Tiny Text Christmas.

Leave the top of the carrot white to give the impression of snow.

Paint Mr Frostie.

I added shadows to the snowman with Lunar Black and added extra penwork underneath him.

Add Stickles.

The pine branch was stamped with black ink too and this sentiment is from Mr Frostie. I also added a little Star Dust Stickles to the ground and to the snowman's hat.

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Happy crafting!
