Hi crafters! Today I have a birthday card tutorial to share with you, using various types of metallic gold effects.

I needed a birthday card for a friend and was in the mood to create something using almost only gold. Even the background cardstock is a soft glimmery golden shade. I used metallic paper, gold embossing powder, gold glitter paper and gold glitter gel.
Since the card is so shiny, it is hard to photograph and looks different depending on how the light falls.
Start by embossing Tim Holtz gold paper in the Simon Says Stamp Dimensional Stars embossing folder.
Die cut Simon Says Stamp Balloon trio from Tim Holtz metallic kraft cardstock, Simon Says Stamp gold glitter cardstock and Ranger heavystock.
Coat the gold balloon with Ranger's Supernova Stickles. Let dry (it takes a while).
Emboss the heavystock balloon in several layers of gold embossing powder. Be very careful when using a heat tool and never touch the melted powder until it has cooled down completely.
I decided to crackle the gold balloon, but you can also leave it as it is. Place heavystock paper behind the balloon, as a highlight. Mount with foam tape. The number was die cut with Tim Holtz Alphanumeric Script dies, from gold glitter paper and from the same glimmery cardstock as the folded cardbase.
The large balloon with the metallic gold base and the Stickles is my favorite. The Supernova stickles has small star sequins embedded in the glue. The sentiments were gold embossed on vellum, using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes stamp set.
If you don't want to wait for the Stickles to dry, use gold glitter paper for the large balloon too.
The large sentiment was also gold embossed on vellum, to keep with the gold theme. Tie the twine up and staple to the background.
I hope you enjoyed this project! Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by here today!
Happy crafting!
