Hi friends! During September STAMPtember® is celebrated at Simon Says Stamp. It is a month full of stamping inspiration, new releases and fun events. Don't miss it!
Simon Says Stamp has released a big collection for STAMPtember®, with stamps, dies, stencils, envelopes, cardstock and sequins. The challenge theme this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is of course Stamping.
Since this is the first Monday of a new month, the Simon Says Stamp Monday team is showcasing a specific company/designer, and this week it is SSS exclusive products. There is so much to choose from, you can find them all here. You don't have to use SSS exclusive products to join us, but it is always fun if you do.
I decided to do an art journal page, in my Dina Wakley Media Journal this week, using a whole bunch of STAMPtember and earlier SSS stamps, dies and stencils. I can't believe autumn is here again, and although I always enjoy the change in seasons and autumn is one of my favorites, I am hoping for a couple of more weeks of warmer weather. Yesterday when Leo and I went for a walk, I could see that the leaves are starting to turn yellow. This page has an autumn theme, although the message and sentiment could be for any time of the year.
I wanted to add some life to the page, and used a baby photo of Anton where he sits in a basket, placed among leaves.
These are the new STAMPtember products that I used on the journal page: Holiday Tree Medallion stencil, Fractile Leaves and Amazing Messages.
Start by white embossing the fun Fractile Leaves on watercolor paper.
Smear Distress Inks on a craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paint brush. Paint the leaves, letting the colors mix here and there. I let the ink go over the edges, so that the white outline of the leaves would be visible.
When dry, mist with Buttercup Mica Spray for a lovely shine.
I worked on a watercolor page in the journal and placed the Holiday Tree Medallion stencil on the page before misting with Distress Spray Stains. Move the stencil and continue.
I wanted some more shine, and used Antique Bronze Mica Spray in just a few places, making splatters.
The page was embellished with Design Tape, as well as Circle Loops and Clipping Heart die cut from kraft cardstock. I also stamped the page with stars and dots from the Amazing Messages set.
Here's a closer look at the fine details of this lovely circle shaped stencil.
This sentiment comes from one of my favourite SSS sets, Uplifting Thoughts.
I placed the leaves so that the basket would be standing in a big pile of autumn leaves.
The title comes from the Amazing Messages set and was stamped with black ink and watercolored, leaving some of the white showing.
The little circular leaf is my favourite.
I also used the outline of the Clipping Heart, leaving some of the hearts in place. You can mix and match the words on the Amazing Messages set, to make it fit many different themes. Perfect for cardmaking, but also for scrapbooking and art journaling.
