Hi friends! A new week has started again and I hope you had a good weekend. We had nice autumn weather and went for two long walks. Leo and I looked at mushrooms, leaves and birds in a forest.
STAMPtember continues at Simon Says Stamp, with tons of inspiration and lots of new products, such as the big collection for STAMPtember®, with stamps, dies, stencils, envelopes, cardstock and sequins.
At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog we have a Shimmer and Shine theme this week. It is always fun to add shimmer to a project and there are many different ways in which it can be done.
I made a very shimmery Halloween tag, using some fun techniques for the background. The new Tim Holtz Pumpkinheads stamp set is so fun. I just love their different expressions. A bunch of kids were tucked in among the pumpkins and I also enjoyed picking sentiments from the Halloween Clippings set.
I die cut a tag from Tim's Halloween patterned paper and brushed a bit of gesso over it. Then I used the Slate stencil and Opaque Crackle Paste. The paste crackles as it dries, and might make the tag curl up a bit. If it does (mine did), die cut a second tag from heavier cardstock and glue the patterned one to it with Matte Medium. Place under a book until it is dry. Alternatively, you can glue the patterned tag to heavier cardstock before applying the Crackle Paste.
The tag was colored with Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso Distress Crayons. Wipe off excess crayon with a slightly moist cloth.
Then I misted the whole tag with Antique Bronze Mica Spray, which gives instant fabulous shine.
For even more shimmer, I used one of the Halloween Deco Sheets and adhered it to cardstock to make it sturdier. Die cut three flourishes using the Scrolls die.
Stamp the pumpkinheads with Black Soot or Jet Black Archival Ink on watercolor paper.
Smear Distress Inks on a craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paint brush.
I also tore up another of the Halloween Deco Sheets and adhered to the background, in addition to a piece of Design Tape.
The crackled brick effect is really cool and I wish you could see the shine from the Mica Spray in real life.
The crinkle ribbon was dyed with Distress Ink and misted with the Mica Spray. I added a bat and an owl to the ribbon.
The pumpkins were adhered with foam tape and I cut apart one of the Ancestors Paper Dolls images to get a bunch of kids. There are also a couple of black Heirloom Roses.
This mix of clippings fitted well with the fun pumpkins.
There is also a spider, attached with a brad. Here you can see the shine of the Deco Sheet better too.
I hope you will join us this week in our Shimmer and Shine challenge. As always, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher to do some fun shopping at Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
