Heartfelt Sizzix with Kunin Felt Tutorial

Hello everyone! Today I have a sweet project and tutorial to share with you made with Heartfelt Sizzix dies by Eileen Hull and Kunin felt. During May, the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team has teamed up with Kunin, to show you many fun projects using felt.

I love the look of layered felt flowers and made a basket as their base. You could also make lots of flower and place them in the basket. The basket was made with the Basket L Bigz die and the flowers with the Stitchy Flowers and Leaf Thinlits set. The basket was quick to make, with mat board, Eileen's Heartfelt patterned paper and Distress Oxides.

Start by die cutting the pieces you need for the basket from white mat board. As you can see the ScoreBoards dies both cuts and scores the material. Use this sandwich in your Big Shot or Vagabond: Cutting Pad, die facing up, mat board, second Cutting Pad.

Die cut pieces from one of the grid papers in Eileen's Heartfelt paper pad. You could also adhere these before die cutting the base pieces and cut them all at one, but I only decided to use the paper after having die cut the mat board. Glue with Matte Medium.

Ink the basket with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. This is a quick way of colorizing patterned paper.

Mist the ink with water and splatter water on it to create texture.

Also ink the thin pieces, but with Peeled Paint, mist and splatter.

Die cut lots of flowers from Kunin felt, as well as some leaves. I found that with the more detailed flowers, it worked really well to use the Precision Base Plate, then the dies cut through the felt without any issues at all.

Glue the flowers together with Matte Medium and glue a bead in the center.

Adhere tape along the flap and then assemble the basket.

Glue the side pieces on top and punch a hole through them with your crop-a-dile. If you don't want handles on your basket, leave the side pieces as they are. Here you can see the oxidized effect of the ink. Attach the handles with brads.

I also cut a word from Eileen's Heartfelt paper, sanded it slightly and used as a sentiment.

Glue the flowers to the basket with Matte Medium.

The Kunin felt is made from recycled plastic bottles, which is pretty cool. It is thick and feels almost like wool felt.

I went for tone-on-tone flowers with a touch of purple. The Stitchy Flowers and Leaf set contains so many flowers dies that you can mix and match them to create a wide range of flowers.

I also added a flower to the handle.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to check out all the Kunin felt projects that the team has created during this month.

I so can't believe it is June tomorrow.

I have mentioned it before, but in case someone missed it, you can also find lots of die cutting inspiration with Eileen's die in her e-book Die Cutting Magic by Bella Crafts.

Die Cutting Magic is full of inspirational projects using Eileen's dies and embossing folders by Sizzix. It is a really great mix of projects: 3-D home decor and storage items, flowers, cards, mini-books, wearable art, holiday projects, baby and wedding items, scrapbooking layouts and much more, for many different themes. Over 100 projects and 154 pages full of inspiration, both for beginner and advanced papercrafters. I am happy to have eight projects in the book, of which four are tutorials. You'll also find projects by Eileen, the other Inspiration Team members, and a whole bunch of other designers.
