Hi friends! Did you have a good weekend? I hope so! Today it is Monday and at the
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge our theme is
Patterned Paper. I hope you can join us, we really enjoy looking at the submissions every week.
Last year, I prepared a
mini album for our summer photos and memories, and I wanted to do the same thing this year. With so many gorgeous patterned papers around, making the base for this album was pretty quick. All I did was to add quite a lot of stamped sentiments to the papers. The album is a
6 x 8 album by Echo Park, and I bought extra pocket pages so that I can fit a lot of memories into the album.
The sentiment stamps that I used come from a whole bunch of Simon Says Stamp exclusive sets, such as this brand new one from the Among the Stars release. It is called
Uplifting Thoughts, and might be my most favourite sentiment set ever. All the sentiments are wonderful and work for cardmaking, scrapbooking and art journaling.
The album comes with a raw cover, so you can customize it to fit your project. I used mainly papers from Kaisercraft
Story Book paper pad.
I also used papers from two Prima A4 paper pads:
French Riviera and
Vintage Emporium. These are for the full 6 x 8 pockets.
For the 2 x 2 pockets, I cut squares of patterned paper, using my Tim Holtz
Guillotine and stamped sentiments and images on them. You can find all the stamp sets in the supply list below. Some were stamped with Jet Black, and others with the two shades of brown included in the
Archival Distress Mixed Media Palette.
I also cut papers for the 3 x 4 pockets, and stamped on them too.
And a few papers for the 4 x 6 pockets (which will mainly contain photos).
I also die cut and stamped some extra embellishments, to use here and there in the album. All three paper pads that I used also contain die cuts, or stickers, which I will use in the album.
The papers were glued to the covers with Tim Holtz
Distress Collage Medium Matte and
Collage Brushes, both of which work great with paper. I sanded the edges of the papers slightly.
The cover was embellished with sentiments stamped on
die cut labels. The
rusty metallic heart comes from Finnabair and Prima.
The
flowers are also by Prima, and were layered together and inked with Ground Espresso. I used a circle cut from patterned paper as a flower center and coated it with Glossy Accents.
I just love this sentiment, isn't it great? And so true. Something to keep in mind in everyday life. The little sun also comes from the Uplifting Thoughts set.
I die cut
Stacked Hearts from
woodgrain paper and glued some of it to the cover.
I also used another of my favourite sentiment stamps, from the
One With Nature set, perfect for a summer album. It was cut into strips and glued on top of a
Heart Parade die cut.
The little book was cut from the
Kaisercraft paper pad and I adhered a chit chat sticker on top, as well as a circle also cut from the paper and coated with Glossy Accents. A piece of lace trimmings was also glued to the cover, for extra texture.
The open book was also cut from the
Story Book paper pad, and the globe comes from the Uplifting Thoughts set. I placed foam dots under the pages to give it dimension.
The title was die cut with a
Simon Says Stamp exclusive die and coated with Glossy Accents.
I tucked a piece of paper into the metallic label holder, stamped with a perfectly sized stamp.
The back of the album was also covered with papers.
I tucked the papers into pockets randomly, and will rearrange them when I have the photos. It is hard to get good photos of papers which are inside page pockets, but it was starting to rain when I took the photos and there wasn't time to take all the papers out.
I also glued paper to the inside covers. These little 2 x 2 pocket pages are fun, and great for scrap pieces of patterned paper.
The album comes with ten page pockets, with a mix of pockets. I also bought additional 4 x 6 pocket, 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 pockets, and a mixed pack.
Here are more of the small cards, some stamped, some left as is. I will also use them for journaling.
I am looking forward to seeing the album with our summer photos added to it.
The larger pieces of patterned paper are great places for journaling. Some of the pages were left without papers, because I plan to add a lot of photos.
Another wonderful sentiment from
Uplifting Thoughts.
And this one comes from
the same stamp set.
There are some 6 x 8 pages in the album, and I might add a few more, with 6 x 8 photos.
I was considering to ink all the edges brown, but decided to skip that, since it would have taken a lot of time.
This sentiment also comes from
Uplifting Thoughts. Sometimes a smile is enough to brighten someone's day.
This is one of my all-time favourite quotes and I have used in a lot of times. It comes from the
One With Nature set.
A few more small cards.
This is the back cover of the inside.
I also cut some papers from Prima's
French Riviera pad, to add here and there. They might also function as extra journaling space, tucked in behind photos. I placed them in a page pocket in the album, so that I can find them easily when I start adding photos and journaling.
These papers are so pretty.
The smaller ones come from the
Story Book pad.
I hope you will join us in our
