Happy Pencil Tag

Hello friends! I have a Darkroom Door tag for you today, which I had forgotten to share. It uses the new Pencils Eclectic stamp

I thought the pencils fitted well together with this great Happy sentiment stamp. The background was kept pretty light, so that the focus would be on the pencils and sentiment. The Pencils stamp is such a great stamp. You could also use just one pencil on a card, scrapbooking layout or art journaling page, or stamp the pencils all over a background.

Start by stamping the Pencils several times on hot-press (smooth) watercolour paper.

The pencils were coloured with Prima's watercolours, using the Tropicals set. I cut off the top part of one set of pencils, and glued to the bottom of another, to make long pencils.

Ink the Peeled Paint background stamp with Tumbled Glass, Broken China och Shabby Shutters, mist with water and stamp on a manila tag, for a very quick background.

Stamp the Happy Sentiment on the background. Glue the pencils together and tie with Linen Ribbon.

The Linen Ribbon also covers up the joints on the pencils.

The edges were distressed and inked with Black Soot. I adhered a few strips of tissue tape to the background, and used my Distress Spritzer Tool and a Black Soot Marker to add some texture. The background was also stamped with the Dots stamp and Fossilized Amber ink. The tie for the tag was made by folding over tissue tape on itself, crumbling it up a bit and inking with Ground Espresso.

You could also make all the pencils in the same colours, so that they look more like graphite pencils, rather than coloured pencils.

At the bottom of the tag there is a piece of Dapper Design Tape, another Mirrored Star and a sentiment from the Darkroom Door Prague Vol. 2 Wordstrips.

I hope you enjoyed this post (typed with a big plaster on one of my fingers, because I cut myself with my craft knife, while cutting a paper for Monday's Simon Says Stamp post).

Have a lovely weekend!
