Sherlock Holmes Notebook

Hi friends! This week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog we have a tic-tac-toe theme. Maura made this fabulous grid for the challenge. Choose a line and use the three items in that line, or be adventurous and use all nine items. 

I like to carry a note/sketchbook with me, and they are fun to make too.

I picked the first row, and used sequins, gold and stamps on this notebook. When holding the cool Tim Holtz Evolution stamps in my hand, I got the idea that they would work great for a little homemade notebook. I like the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, and the Evolution stamps with the cool sketchbook background work so well for a notebook where little details can be jotted down.  The stamps fit perfectly on the 4 x 6 Media Board in Dina Wakley's mixed pack. 

The board was first covered with gesso and I die cut bricks from the Mixed Media #3 set and glued to the background. The boards were painted lightly with Tumbled Glass and Iced Spruce. I stamped the images on Tim Holtz tissue paper with Jet Black ink and adhered to the gesso covered board with gloss Multi-Medium (one layer below and one on top).  When the tissue paper was dry, I added more paint. 'Constant attention' comes from a stamp on Tim's Dapper set. 

I also stamped the background with a Curiosity definition stamp and a grungy date stamp. 221 is of course Sherlock's address on Baker Street.

The metallic idea-ology pieces: a Sprocket Gear, Compass Coin, and a Game Spinner were coloured with Gold Alcohol Ink Mixative. 

The Typed Token was also covered with Gold Mixative. Here you can see the bricks in the background.

'Not all who wander are lost' is one of my favourite sentiments. It's by Tolkien. The sentiment was stamped on black cardstock, with the lightest of the three metallic inks included in Hero Art's Vintage Metallic Steel Ombre pad.

The sequins were also roughly coloured with gold mixative.

This is the back of the notebook, with Watson, and another sentiment stamp. The panels were also misted with Brushed Pewter and Tarnished Brass Mica Spray.

The inside pages were cut to size. You can add as many as you need.

I made holes with my Crop-A-Dile and set eyelets in the covers. Tim Holtz Mini Book Rings were used to bind the book. I see that I need to glue the sentiment strip down again.
