Watercolours and Gelli Printing Layout

Hello Saturday! I hope you are having some nice plans this weekend. I am hoping for some outdoor activities. A new CSI case file is up, here it is:

And my layout:
I was going to use other photos first, then my eye feel on one of these and I thought they fit well with the colours. We had two Golden Retrievers when I was a child and while my only memory of the first one is when he died (it is one of my very first memories), the second one was a very special to me. I made a watercolour background and then used one of my gelli printed papers on top. I have a pile of these since I usually make many during a printing session. From the evidence I used: flowers, tags, circles, ribbon, leaves, and fabric, and from the testimony, I wrote (stamped) part of my journaling on a tag. The rest of the journaling is tucked behind the layout, because I wrote a lot.

To make the banner, I die cut three banners from natural sticky-back canvas. Bundled Sage Distress Ink was smeared on my craft sheet and misted with water. The canvas was pressed into the ink. Leave to dry and fray the edges.

I also added two tissue tape banners. The flowers were made with the new Sizzix Susan's Garden Aster Flower set, which is a great flower.  I often make my Susan's Garden flowers to look like the real thing, but here I die cut the petals from dictionary paper, for a different look. The leaves were die cut from Core'dinations cardstock and the stamen inked with Dried Marigold.

As my main sentiment, I used this great stamp by Wendy Vecchi. I also stamped the background with a new dotted circle background stamp by her. The flower on the tag was stamped with Dried Marigold and Bundled Sage. The tag itself was die cut from smooth white paper using Tim Holtz new Tag Collection set, which has a whole bunch of tags in different sizes. There is a smaller canvas banner under the tag. The title was die cut from canvas with the Vintage Market XL die, since the letters disappeared a little on the background, I painted them black. It translates 'Dogs'.

The flowers were made with one of Wendy's stencil and stamps combination - although I only used one of the stamps (the one on the tag). White embossing paste was smeared through a stencil with a palette knife. When dry, I stamped them with a text stamp.

To easily stamp just the flowers, wait until the paste is dry, and put the stencil back. Stamp over the stencil.

Isn't this a great little sentiment stamp? For the banner, I used a piece of twine and some mini clothes pegs.

If you look closely on the gelli printed background, you'll discover a whole bunch of Sizzix embossing folders (check out this tutorial of mine for more inspiration).

The crinkle ribbon was dyed with Dried Marigold.

Thank you for looking! I hope you will join us in this week's challenge!!

Happy crafting!

Anna-Karin
