Wild Rose Watercolor Tag Tutorial

Hello crafters! Sometimes you need some flowers in the midst of winter. It is very cold here and the snow is beautiful, but today I felt like doing a flower project.

As you can see the tag is photographed in the snow. It is so cold that the snow isn't wet.

We have wild roses in the garden. They are not flowering now, of course, but still inspired this tag. The flowers were colored with watercolors and stamped with a stamp by Tim Holtz. I wanted this tag to have a very light look and there isn't much shading.

Start by die cutting a tag from watercolor paper. You can also cut the tag by hand or do the technique on a card instead. Stamp with Tim Holtz Floral Trims.

I watercolored the flowers with Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. Start with the petals. I tested the colors on scrap paper first, before picking which ones to use.

Next, color the leaves.

The background color was mixed from two shades and I used the darker of the two to also add some shading.

I silver embossed a swirl here and there on the background, being careful not too add too much.

The sentiments were stamped on Tim Holtz Journal Cards and cut into strips. They were stamped with Archival Ink Potting Soil.

This sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels. I also added sheer ribbons and half-pearls to the tag.

The silver embossed swirls add shine and has an organic shape which works well with the floral theme.

Thank you so much for stopping by here today! I will be back again tomorrow.
