Hi everyone! The leaves are falling and I always wish that the beautiful autumn days could last just a little bit longer. Today, I have two quick cards to share with you, made with the beautiful Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit.
There are stunning double-sided patterned papers by My Mind's Eye in the October kit and I made two cards, using mainly the papers. I like maps and the world map was calling out to be the focal point of a card. This card is going to make its way to South Africa, hopefully not too slowly. I used dots from the alphabet stickers included in the kit as pins on the map, marking both cities.
Cut off the top and bottom part of the map and turn the papers around to use the honeycomb pattern at the back as borders.
Stamp a sentiment and hearts with brown ink, using the Thankful Flowers set, included in the kit. I posted a card last week using the stamp set, called Autumn Watercolor Flowers.
Here you can see the faux golden map pins easier.
I tied a string around the base of the card.
Distress the edges, add a gold paper from the kit as a mat and stitch the panels to the background.
When I see a whole bunch of pretty patterned papers, I often have a hard time picking which one/s to use, and a patchwork card is the perfect solution to that dilemma. Use small squares of many papers.
Cut the papers into pieces of about 2.2 in (3 cm). I wanted to use specific flowers and planned where to cut that paper.
Distressing the edges is a quick way to add texture and to make the card more tactile.
Stitch the squares to a piece of kraft paper (also included in the kit) and mount on black and then folded white cardstock.
Die cut the sentiment from dark brown and metallic copper papers. The papers, as well as the die, are also included in the kit.
Add some sequins and a stamped sentiment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog today!
