Hello friends! I Hope you had a good weekend! Here, we did quite about of walking, and Anton had an afternoon of skating, and Leo learned how to go down a slide on his own for the first time (and repeated it about forty times).
This week our theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is Pets Corner. Remember to check out our guest designer Autumn Clark's last guest project.
I have another scrapbooking layout this week, and a double-sided one on top of that. When I saw the theme, I knew there was a story I wanted to tell about my inlaw's dog. I picked out some photos of her from different times, and there are even more photos on a journaling card at the back of the layout. She was sick when we left for Sweden and saying goodbye to her was really hard, and she passed away the next day. She was the sweetest dog.
I wanted a soft background and went with watercolours combined with heat embossing. There are also a whole bunch of die cuts from different materials.
I used Hero Arts Rings Bold Prints stamp all over the background and stamped it with Versamark ink. To add interest, I sprinkled it with both Hero Arts White Satin Pearl and WOW Atlantic Seaspray embossing powders.
After stamping and embossing, I painted the background with blue and brown watercolor paint, letting the paints blend as I went along.
The title was die cut from burlap with the Tim Holtz Typo Uppercase die, to add another texture to the layout.
I also stamped the background with the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Alphabet background stamp, which is a favourite stamp of mine. The bigger hearts are die cut with Tim Holtz Heartfelt die.
The SSS Spinner Trail and Clipping Hearts were die cut from glimmer cardstock. It has a really nice shine to it. I left some of the hearts inside the die cut frame when gluing them to the layout.
Across both pages there is a piece of design tape. 'Missing you' was die cut with the Missing You set, which comes with three different missing you designs.
Here's the second page. I taught Fiela a lot of tricks and wanted to include a photo of that too. She was a Boerboel, which is a South African breed of dog.
Here's another of the 'missing you' die cuts, from the same set. The hearts are from Heartfelt.
Here you can maybe see the pearlescent look of the Hero Arts powder better. I also added some buttons from 28 Lilac Lane, Birds of a Feather embellishment bottle.
I really hope you will join us in our Pets Corner challenge. As every week, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
