Hello friends! It is September, which means that STAMPtember® celebrations have started at Simon Says Stamp and will continue for the whole month. Tons of stamping inspiration, new products and prizes to win, such as a craft room give away. How fun!
At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge we are also celebrating STAMPtember® with a Stamp It challenge. The team is using new SSS STAMPtember® products. You can see all the new stamps, inks, dies and papers here.
I had a hard time picking which stamps to use, since I wanted to use them all at once and as a result I'll have another project with STAMPtember® products coming up in a few days. For today, I made an art journal page in my Small Creative Journal, using the new gorgeous Hydrangea Blooms set, as well as a bunch of other products.
These are the two new stamp sets that I used: Hydrangea Blooms and Henna Patterns.
Switch to the solid Hydrangea stamp, from the same set, ink with three shades of blue Distress Inks, making them lighter at the top and gradually darker. Mist with water and stamp.
The rest of the page was painted with Prima's Decadent Pies watercolour paint. Give the flowers some leaves with green paint, but leave white showing here and there. Paint grassy hills and finally a sky, coordinating with the blue shades of the flowers.
I die cut some shapes to use as embellishments: Songbird Branch, Smile Circle, and Happy word. Die cut shadows from dark grey paper.
The birds were painted grey.
Sentiments from the Uplifting Words set were stamped with Slate grey ink, which looks a little softer than black ink.
I also die cut clouds with the Cloud Bank die. Here you can see the resist effect of the swirl and dot embossed impressions.
Give the birds branches to sit on, and some leaves, die cut from an old dictionary paper.
I don't worry too much about opposite pages matching in my art journals, since I like a kind of random the mix of colours, themes and textures. I just wanted to show you the page next to this one and how they look together. You can find the post about the page to the left here. Round the corners with a Corner Chomper to make the watercolour papers fit perfectly on a page.
I hope you will join us in our STAMPtember® celebrations and our Stamp It challenge. As every week, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
If you want to, follow Simon Says Stamp on Instagram, they post great stuff daily.

ReplyDeleteYour project looks so great! And so recognizeble: that wanting to use all the stamps immediately.. :) Great to see how you made all the layers; I'm sure I'll use one or two things as inspiration for an AJ or card! Enjoy the summerdays!
ReplyDeleteSo many creative uses of the stamps and dies here. Embossing the hydrangea blooms is perfect for variation in coloring in the individual florets, and then the drop shadows on the die cuts is wonderful. And then the colors - these colors are perfect for the sentiments expressed.
ReplyDeleteI love the scene you created with the rolling hills in the background. It's such a bright and cheerful addition to your journal. Love it!
