Yellow Flower Tutorial

Hi friends! I have a little card to share today made the Eileen Hull inspiration team, using Eileen's new Paper Flower Party Sizzix collection, which will be available in May.

There are gorgeous flower dies in the new collection, and you'll be able to make a lot of different flowers, especially by mixing the various shapes. Here, I used the Spring Leaves and Heart & Soul Flower dies. The stamps on this little card are by Darkroom Door.

These dies are both very versatile, with four different leaves on the Spring Leaves one and four shapes of flowers on the Heart & Soul Flower. Since they are both Bigz dies, you'll be able to die cut them from thick materials too. Layer all the flowers together, or use just one kind.

The flowers were inked with three shades of yellow Distress Ink.

Stamp them with a Torn Text background stamp, using Buttercup and Dandelion Archival Ink.

Ink a leaf with Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint and stamp with a texture stamp, and Peeled Paint.

You can use the Recipe Card die to make a cute little card (3 x 4 in). For the background, I used an inky watercolour paper left-over from a long ago project. It was made by inking a large acrylic block with Distress Inks, misting generously with water and then stamping the block on the paper. Fold the paper and place it just inside one of the cutting lines on the die.

The tree stamp from Wilderness Vol. 1 was inked with Peeled Paint and I added brown details with a Ground Espresso marker. Mist with water, about four times, and stamp. Repeat to also cover the back of the card.

The sentiment was stamped with Ground Espresso Archival Ink, from Tim Holtz Distress Mixed Media palette. For more info on this ink palette, check out yesterday's post Distressed Metal Tag.

Shape the flower petals and layer them together. Stitch a button to the center. I also added a piece of paper twine, twisted around a pencil.

The card almost looks nicer folded out, and I like the idea of the recipient discovering that the scene continues on the back.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I am looking forward to make more dimensional flowers with the Paper Flower Party dies in the future.

Happy crafting!
