12 tags of 2015 August

Hi all! This is my second post for the day, if you are here for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge post, you can find it below. In the nick of time, here is my version of Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2015 August tag. I missed the June and July tag because there just wasn't time during the summer holiday.

I love using my dies to create backgrounds and had fun with Tim's background technique. The patterned paper underneath the die cut tag consists of three different patterns, from the smaller designs in the Correspondence paper stash, I like that you can just barely see the patterns. I did a slightly similar background in a tutorial a few months ago, but using paint instead of ink. You can find it here. Aren't these two children sweet, all dressed up to go somewhere.

I used dies from Friendship Words Blocks and the honeycomb die from the Mixed Media set to die cut my background, together with the Precision Base Plate. The inks used were Blueprint Sketch, Hickory Smoke and Cracked Pistachio. I love how they blend when you apply the matte multi-medium on top.

The background was stamped with the mini version of my favourite alphabet background stamp, which I am sure you have seen me use before.

I layered different ephemera pieces together and added a Game Piece. I like that the stamping is also on the collage elements and not only on the background, it ties the whole piece together in a nice way.

Here you can spot the honeycomb die cut. The shading around and below the children makes them a part of the background. A text pattern peak through behind the die cut.

Making this tag made me smile and I am going to hang it on my Clip Carousel, where I display all my newer tags. You can see it in this post

Thank you for visiting!!

  2. So very glad you made it this month Anna-Karin!! Your tag is wonderful. I love your color combinations and that peek of print paper underneath. I really like the honeycomb at the bottom. You really have an eye for layering ephemera. Love the addition of the torn pages. What a great frame for those adorable children. It made me smile :) -- Mary Elizabeth
