Tape it up

Hello! Monday and time for another Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge. This week the challenge is to use tape. Fun! Don't forget to check the challenge blog to see the work of all the DT members.

I made two cards featuring different ways of using tissue and washi tape, both stamping and die cutting the tape. This is the first one:

After adhering tissue tape to white paper, I cut it using the Sizzix Mini Ornamental die. The Hero Arts Etched Flowers were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossed. Then the flowers were coloured with alcohol inks, by placing a drop of each colour I wanted to use in the Tim Holtz palette, and picking them up with an alcohol ink fillable pen and blending solution. I misted the penal a bit with Biscotti Perfect Pearls spray. The frame was also die-cut, but using Love My Tapes washi tape and placing the Mini Ornamental inside the Ornamental Bigz die, that way, it cuts a great frame. I inked the tape with Antique Linen to tone down the dots a bit.

For the background I used 7Gypsies Postale Ledger paper (I love ledger papers), and stamped them with script stamps. I also used postage related stamps, since they fit with the postcard tape. The little 'journey' comes from another piece of tape.

The letters were die cut from a piece of cardstock covered with Tim Holtz tissue tape and then inked with alcohol ink and placed on a tattered banner. The butterflies were coloured with Distress Markers.

Here's the second card:

The focal panel was made in the same way as on the first card, and the Fleurettes were stamped and clear embossed as on the first card. But on this card I coloured them with Twinkling H2Os. The background is stamped on a left over piece of watercoloured paper (done with Dusty Concord) and stamped with the Hero Arts Fly Away Newsprint.

All the edges were distressed and I added small pieces of the Love My Tapes Chalkboard tape here and there. I cut a second Mini Ornamental panel from black cardstock, cut it in two in the middle and placed it to form a shadow to the focal panel.

The letters were done in the same way as on the first card. Using tape to die cut shapes is a fun way of getting more out of your tape.

I am looking forward to seeing all the tape inspired projects. As always, Simon Says Stamps gives a $50 gift voucher to one random participant in the challenge.

Thank you for looking! Have a great week!

  1. Anna-Karin, your two cards are so lovely. I love how you've used the washi tape to create such lovely backgrounds for your stamped and colorized flowers. They have such a wonderful vintage feeling to both of them. I love how you've colorized them and added the little snippets of postal images and laces, etc. <3 Candy
