I am very fond of snow-themed projects, even though I hope the snow will wait a bit longer before it arrives here. This card was made with the Simon Says Stamp Let It Snow stamp set, which is a fun stamp set creating layered designs.

Working on watercolor paper, I started by smearing Distress Ink on a non-stick craft sheet, misting with water and placing the paper into the ink.

When dry, white emboss the outline snow image.

Ink SN-W up with Salvaged Patina at the top and Broken China at the bottom, stamp and emboss with clear powder. Always be very careful when using a heat tool and never touch the melted powder until it has cooled down completely.

Stamp the snow globe with Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide and emboss with clear powder.

Add more ink to the background as in the first step, but avoid getting too much ink in the center of the card.

Stamp sentiments with Uncharted Mariner and Simon Says Stamp Smoke. Distress the edges. Mat the panel on white, Fog Grey and folded Soft Navy cardstock.

The embossing makes the word stand out more and gives it an icy look.

I also added Simon Says Stamp Winter Flurries sequins here and there.

The snowflakes also comes from Let It Snow and were stamped with Simon Says Stamp Smoke ink.

Mixed Media Alphabet Art Journal Page

Hello crafters! I have a mixed media art journal page tutorial to share today, but the techniques can of course be used for other projects too.

Here's another project with a lot of letters and words, done in my Dylusions Small Creative Journal. The background has layers of old book paper, gesso, paint, texture paste, stamping and Distress Watercolor Pencils.

Layers of ink - Mixed Media Alphabet Art Journal tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Start by applying old book paper to a page with Matte Medium. The page already had gesso on it, but you can skip that step. My pages come from an Swedish dictionary.

Apply gesso, letting the text peak through.

Layers of ink - Mixed Media Alphabet Art Journal tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Apply texture paste.

I used the stunning new Simon Says Stamp ABC stencil and texture paste. I really like the look of this stencil.

Layers of ink - Mixed Media Alphabet Art Journal tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson. Paint with Distress Paint.

When dry, paint with watered-down Distress Paint and mist with more water if needed.

When dry, draw a shadow with a black Distress Watercolor Pencil. I wanted a rough shadow and didn't sharpen the pencil.

Create splatters by dipping the pencil in water and flicking a paint brush against it.

Stamp with the alphabet stamp from Tim Holtz School Desk and Garden Patina ink.

To make the pens, die cut three feathers from water color paper, with Tim Holtz Feathery. Smear Distress Inks on a non-stick craft sheet, mist with water and press the feathers into the ink.

Repeat the process with the ink until you are happy with the look and when dry, stamp with the alphabet stamp and black ink.

The main sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Printmaking Birds and was stamped on kraft paper. I also stamped some sentiments on the background.

The paste letters have an interesting and textured look and I like the bold shadow. Normally I would blend the shadow out with water, but for something different, I kept it rough and nonblended here.

I also die cut two birds from Tim Holtz Silhouette Birds and colored with the same inks as the feathers. Stamp a word on each bird.

The splatters and alphabet add even more texture to the background.

The second bird is looking up towards the feather pens.

These feather pens have a lot of texture too. For another example using the Feathery die, check out my Robin Tag

I used the black watercolor pencil to make the nibs black as if they had been dipped in ink.

The title comes from Tim Holtz Friendship Words and was die cut from Halloween Deco Sheet and once from cream paper.

Alphabet Tag

Hello and welcome to my blog today! I have a tag to share with an alphabet/typography theme and an interactive pocket element.

Layers of ink - Alphabet tag by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I love letters. Not only can you create words, text and stories with them, but they are also great as design elements. Here I used a bunch of letter-based products, with the inspiration coming from the new Simon Says Stamp Mixed Alphas background stamp.

Layers of ink - Alphabet tag by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Start by die cutting the pocket from Tim Holtz Sizzix Collector set from heavystock paper. Die cut one of the labels and four rings from Halloween Backdrops paper and kraft paper. I ended up not using the ticket.

Stamp the cool Mixed Alphas background stamp with red ink. I made sure to get most of the letter 'A' onto the pocket.

Ink with Distress Ink. Glue two kraft circles together to make them sturdier. Attach with brads and wrap twine around them to hold the pocket closed.

I cut a piece of Halloween Backdrops paper and glued it to a tag. Trim the edges. Sand the edges and stamp. I also stamped tickets from Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels with red ink on the background. The numbers and the star were die cut with the Collector set from woodgrain Backdrops paper.

Wrap the twine around the closure before you press the brad too hard, to make sure there is a bit of space left. 'Date' comes from Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels.

The pocket can hold messages, a gift card or ephemera.

I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Document It with red ink and added a Design Tape Trims piece.

Layers of ink - Alphabet tag by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

For the inside flap, I die cut one of the smaller labels from Collector from Halloween Backdrops paper, inked the edges and stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Anna's Flowers. The second sentiment comes from Mixed Labels.

Layers of ink - Alphabet tag by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Another sentiment stamp from Mixed Labels, a piece of Design Tape and a Pen Nib. White paint was rubbed into the word to make it more visible and I dripped some black alcohol ink on the tip of the nib.

The backdrops paper didn't cover the whole tag and to fix that I added Design Tape at the bottom.

Stenciled Magnets Tutorial

Hi friends! I hope you are well! It is Monday and we have a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for you.

Please note: this post has affiliate links, for which I receive a small percentage of sales generated by the link, at no extra cost to you.

This week our theme is Home Decor. I love to make home decor pieces of different types. Don't miss the beautiful Christmas project by our October guest designer Lori E Kennedy aka cr8tive_lori.

Layers of ink - Stenciled Magnets Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

I made two fridge magnets this week, partly because I found these small wooden squares which I bought years ago in South Africa. I made some magnets of them then and thought it would be fun to add to the collection on the fridge. Stencils and texture paste were used to create the texture. The magnets are 2x2 in.

Layers of ink - Stenciled Magnets Tutorial by Anna-Karin Evaldsson.

Start by coating the wooden squares with gesso. You can also use chipboard or mat board as a base, or a small canvas.

Paint with watered down Distress Paint. Mist with more water if needed.

Paint around the flower with Ground Espresso to make it stand out better from the background. Place the Mix and Match Circles Stencil back on the design and paint the circles turquoise.

Stamp on the circles with small stamps. Mine come from Simon Says Stamp Thoughtful Flowers, Mix and Match Squares and Anna's Flowers. Apply Sizzix Gold and Rose Gold Luster Wax to the edges, the flower center and here and there. Apply Ranger's Nebula Stickles Glitter Gel to the flower and around the circles.

I used only neutral shades for the cosmo flower magnet. I used Rose Gold Luster Wax at the flower center. It is difficult to capture all the sparkle in a photo.

The Nebula Stickles have different sizes of glitter and also some star sequins.

The circle magnet has more colors and more stamping.

The Thoughtful Flowers butterfly was colored with a brown Distress Watercolor Pencil.
