Be Original Bird Crazy Card

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. I have an inky Bird Crazy card to share with you today. I made this a little while ago, but hadn't posted it yet.

I had fun dressing up this bird with stamps from the Crazy Things set. She has a rolled up piece of sketch paper under her wing and a pencil tucked into the hat. Maybe she has been sitting on the branch of a tree sketching a beautiful landscape. The background was done with Ranger's dye inks, using a fun technique that I discovered when I tried to do something else. Instead of resisting heat embossed areas, as most dye inks do, the ink sticks to the embossed areas, creating a cool effect. You can see another example of the technique on my Glossy Journal Page Tutorial.

The background was white embossed on glossy cardstock and brayered with Electric Lime and Caribbean Coast dye ink. I like the textured effect that this gives.

The bird and Crazy Things were stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink on watercolour paper. I used a little bit of Distress Micro Glaze here and there to create a cool resist effect. I did a tutorial and video tutorial on this technique, if you want to have a closer look on it. Everything was die cut with the coordinating dies and I stamped the parts with small stamps from the Correspondence set and Caribbean Coast ink. I used foam dots to adhere the wings, big eye and hat. Cut a small slot in the hat to tuck in the pencil.

The bird is standing on a branch die cut from paper covered with foil tape, and you can spot some tissue tape underneath. I also used a piece of cheese cloth to create a nest. The sentiment was stamped on a banner die cut with the Tattered Curvy Banner die.

At the top of the card there is another two strips of tissue tape and some silver branches. The big one was die cut with the Fall Foliage set, and the small one was punched.

Thank you for visiting today! There is lots more to come on the blog later this month, I know it has been a little quiet.

Happy stamping!
