Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. It's been a little quiet on the blog this month because we have been in South Africa. We had a great time, enjoyed the warm weather and visited lots of people and places. Flying so far with two kids is quite a challenge, but it went okay. Today, it is Monday again and of course a new Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge. Our theme this week is food & drink.
I made a little scene in a shadow box for this week, featuring two unlikely friends sharing a cup of tea and celebrating something. There is also a smoothie cup with two straws and three bottles of milk. I guess they enjoy a lot of milk in their tea. This shadow box has now found a happy home with a good friend of mine in Johannesburg. I had fun using some new products by Tim Holtz here, such as the great Vignette Boxes. Its a tutorial.
Stamp the images with Jet Black ink on watercolour paper. It is important to use a waterproof ink. I often stamp a few extra images, especially if I haven't made up my mind. Here I used stamps from the Crazy Cats, Crazy Things and Mini Bird Crazy and Things sets.
Smear Distress Inks on a craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paint brush. Watercolour the images. You can use the coordinating Crazy Cats, Mini Bird Crazy and Things, Crazy Things Thinlits sets to cut these out.
When dry, use a Distress Spritzer Tool and a Black Soot marker to add some texture to the stamped images.
I love shadow boxes and was happy to see the new Vignette Boxes, which come four in a set. I used the largest one here. The edges were painted first with white gesso and then with Mermaid Lagoon and some Black Soot.
Paint the back of the cup and the saucer with Picket Fence paint and let dry. Glue them together with Glossy Accents and coat them on the top too.
The bottles of milk are a fun addition to the Crazy Cats set.
On the wall there are also two Mirrored Hearts.
I hope you will join us in our Food and Drink challenge. As every week, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
If you want to, follow Simon Says Stamp on Instagram, they post great stuff daily.
If you use instagram add #sssmchallenge to your challenge entry uploads, so that we can see them on there too.
I hope you will have a great week and thank you for visiting today!
Happy crafting!
