Today I have a little sneak peek to share for a fabulous new challenge site that will launch on January 6. It is called CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration and is started by my scrapping friend Debbi Tehrani. It is a colour combination challenge with several fun twists. I particularly like one thing that Debbi writes on the new site, so I am quoting her here:
‘CSI encourages scrapbookers to explore the artistic side of scrapbooking while preserving the essential reason we started scrapbooking in the first place--capturing on our pages the bits and pieces--the stories--that make our lives special and meaningful and unique.’
Sounds great doesn’t it! Please join us in the fun. Here’s a sneak of the first challenge:
I am very happy and honoured to be on the design team. It is going to be tons of fun. This is a little sneak peek of my layout for the first challenge.
My layout has lots of stamping as usual; you will have to wait until January 6 to see the whole thing. Only a week to go!
Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!

Christmas card set
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We had a wonderful time and a lot of fun. I was a bit off-line during Christmas, so I forgot to post my last Christmas card post for this year. I was planning to have posted it on Christmas Day. This set of cards is for the Hero Arts December challenge (card set and sketch theme). I am sorry about the poor group photo of the four cards, the cards were already given away when I realised just how bad that photo is.
This is my favourite of the four cards, because of the way the light shines on the manger:
The four cards are basically similar, I just placed the stamps a bit differently, used three different sentiments, and used hearts on two and stars on the other two. Distress Stains were smeared on my craft sheet (Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Pumice Stone) and the four pieces of watercolour paper were dragged through, creating a quick background that is different every time. The cream paper was inked a bit and then stamped with Antique Linen using one of my favourite stamps. The circles were die cut from Core’dinations cardstock, embossed and sanded. The hearts and stars were die cut from grungepaper, painted gold and coated with Glossy Accents.
Here are the other three cards:
Thank you for stopping by!

Advent ATC 24
God Jul!! Merry Christmas!! Geseënde Kersfees!
Time for Santa to come and for the last card in my ATC calendar. Christmas Eve is the main family celebration day of Christmas in Sweden and that’s why Advent calendars normally stop on the 24th.
The Santa was coloured with Twinkling H2Os. White flocking was added to Santa’s clothing and white Flowersoft to the snowy parts. Swedish Santas actually don’t come down the chimney, but knock on the door on the evening of the 24th and personally hand out the gifts.
Thank you for visiting! I hope you will have a wonderful Christmas!
Supplies: Stämpelboden stamp; Hero Arts alpha stamps; Twinkling H20s; American Crafts fabric numbers; sleigh brad.

Advent ATC 23
Here’s the second last ATC of my ATC calendar. Swedish Advent calendars stop on the 24th, which is the main day on which Christmas is celebrated.
The day before Christmas Eve is called ‘the day before the dipping day’ in Swedish, and refers to a food dish that is often eaten on Christmas Eve. I always liked the evening of the 23rd, when gifts are wrapped and the last preparations are done. I cut out some parcels and added some wax to the ATC to symbolise that. Most gifts are wrapped now, but I have to fry some meatballs for tomorrow (important part of the Christmas meal). So I am off to do that now.
Thank you for looking!!
Supplies: Hero Arts alphabet stickers; Fancy Pants patterned paper; KI Memories fabric paper; red wax; 7Gypsies wax stamp; Making Memories number stickers and heart pearl; lace.

Clear cards
I had some left over acetate and folded both of them into cards. The cards use basically the same material (I needed two last minute Christmas cards). Both cards are for the Hero Arts December challenge (sketch 3).
The first card was stamped with Stazon metallic ink. Aluminium tape was adhered to cardstock and embossed. The trees were stamped with Memento Danube Blue and cut out. Very simple and quick. I added a panel the same size as the embossed panel on the inside, for the sentiment.
Here's a close up where you see the text on the acetate better:
Supplies: Hero Arts: Three Trees with Stars LP220, Merriest Christmas Wishes CG377, Holiday Background CG324; Stazon Platinum ink; Memento Danube Blue; Jenni Bowlin Weather Wane; Cuttlebug embossing folder; aluminum tape; lace trim.
Here's the second card:
The second card was embossed with a snowflake folder. The remaining piece of embossed aluminum tape was painted first blue, then sanded and then painted white and sanded again. Finally it was sponged with black Distress Ink and clear embossed (one of Tim’s techniques during 12 tags of Christmas). The trees and the sentiment were stamped with Jenni Bowlin Weather Wane.

Advent ATC 21
This is the ATC for 21 December in my ATC calendar:
The base is a piece of sturdy glittery felt which was stitched around the edges. A music stamp was stamped on a paper inked and misted with Distress Inks. The die cut star is covered with glitter. The sentiment is a part of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.
Thank you for looking!
Supplies: Delish music stamp; Distress Ink: Broken China, Weathered Wood; Cuttlebug star die; Making Memories stickers; glitter felt.

Advent ATC 20
This is the ATC for 20 December of my ATC calendar:
The background is sponged with Antique Linen and Weathered Wood and then stamped with a flourish and a script stamp. The children were stamped on kraft paper and framed with a chipboard bookplate, painted with Weathered Wood crackle paint. The sentiment is hard to translate, it means ‘well-behaved/kind/good children’, and it is part of the phrase that Santa says when he comes into Swedish homes on the Christmas Eve to hand out gifts.
Thank you for visiting!

The last HMITM layout
Some sad news, we have decided to stop the How Much is Too Much Challenge, because the last year the participant number has been dwindling. It is not a permanent goodbye, since we might revive it again in the future, but it is nevertheless very sad. It is one of the longest-running and oldest challenges and I played along in it long before I started being on the DT. I have had so much fun with challenges and used up a lot of stash in the process. Some of my favourite layouts were made for the HMITM challenge. The challenges are so different every time and it has been lots of fun thinking them out. I have gotten so much inspiration from my fellow team members and from all the people who have played along with us.
So this is our last (at least for now) challenge, and it happened to also be my turn to host. Here's the challenge:
Since it is December and winter in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought we would do a frosty and wintery challenge:
- Do a winter or Christmas themed layout
- Depict snow on your layout (here are a few examples: snowflakes, torn white paper hills, dry embossing, organza, paint, vellum etc.)
- Use glitter
- At least three shades of blue (but you can use other colors too)
- Something shiny or transparent
Here's my layout:
I knew I wanted to use these winter photos of the two cousins. Quite many shades of blue were used on the layout and I also added some white and grey. I love clear elements and cut off a third of the patterned paper and replaced it with a transparency. The transparency was stamped with metallic Stazon ink and a snowflake background stamp, a few rub-ons were layered on top. Ghost letters were used for the title and coloured with alcohol inks. It is always tricky to attach clear elements to a clear background, so I simply pricked holes and tied a string in each letter. Snowflakes were white embossed all over the patterned paper, then it was misted with Perfect Pearls and water and finally a flourish was stamped with Chipped Sapphire. The edges were distressed with white paint and the one edge was punched.
The patterned paper was stitched to white cardstock for stability. Snowflakes were die cut from watercolour paper, canvas, vellum and aluminium tape. They were coloured with Distress Stains and misted with Perfect Pearls. Some were coated with Stickles for glitter. Extra snow was added in the form of dry embossed torn strips of vellum, Stickles was added to the top. I also had to use this cute Frosty the Snowman stamp. The journaling is on a tag behind the top photo and is about how much fun they had together on this cold day.
It is hard to photograph a layout with so many transparent and shiny parts. On the first photo, I placed a white paper underneath the layout, the right hand section is clear in real life. Here it is with a kraft paper underneath:
And some close-ups:
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you will play along with us in our last challenge!

Advent ATC 19
Here’s a very shiny ATC for 19 December of my ATC calendar:
The background is a glitter paper which was sturdy enough to form the base of the ATC. It was embellished with two pieces of patterned paper, a grungepaper circle misted with pearly red mist, star brads and a felt heart. The sentiment is from a Christmas song.
Supplies: Distress Ink Fired Brick reinker; Perfect Pearls; Making Memories patterned paper; grungepaper; unknown glitter paper; Panduro felt heart; Dymo tape.

Advent ATC 18
This is another favourite among the ATC’s in my Advent calendar.
The background is watercolour with Distress Inks, which was misted lightly when dry. I printed three Christmas photos of us as children tiny on cardstock. The heart die cut was stamped with a woodgrain stamp. The sentiment is a well-known Swedish Christmas song.
Thank you for looking!!
Supplies: Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain; Distress Inks: Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo; Peeled Paint reinker; gold Perfect pearls; Maya Road sheer; BasicGrey stickers; Cuttlebug heart die.

12 tags of Christmas 12
I managed to take photos of the last tag today, even though the light wasn’t perfect and the metallic parts are too shiny on the photos. I didn’t want to skip a day with posting the tags, especially not since this is the last tag. I have had so much fun making my 12 tags. I love the white wash look of Tim’s last tag and it was fun playing around with the tissue paper. I ended up doing two tags. The first tag is also for this week’s Play Date Café Challenge #111, I loved the inspiration image, here it is:
And here’s my tag:
The background was stamped with a star stamp, inked with Picket Fence Distress Stain and then I used multi-medium to attach the tissue paper. Quite a bit of Rock Candy Stickles was smeared on top. Instead of using the house die (which I had already used on one of the other tags, I used the mannequin (I hope that it what it is called). It was painted with two shades of paint (Pool and Juniper) to get the right shade of teal. The flourish stamp was stamped on top and embossed with puffy powder. Rock Candy Stickles was smeared on top and when dry white paint was added to the edges and smeared downwards, just like Tim did on his house. The skirt was made by pleating tissue paper and then attaching with tiny staples and a belt of tinsel. I found a very old pinwheel embellishment that worked as a brooch. I made the tissue flower a bit smaller than Tim’s and added a button to the centre. Love the look of the faux German scraps letters and I also cut a border piece from aluminium tape adhered to glossy cardstock.
A close up to try to catch the glimmer:
Supplies: Hero Arts Life of the Party Stars CG299; Distress Ink: Walnut Stain; Distress Stain: Picket Fence, Broken China; Adirondack paint dabber Pool, Juniper, Picket Fence; Rock Candy and Platinum Stickles; grungeboard; Tim Holtz Sizzix Sewing Room, Iron Gate, Typeset dies; Tim Holtz Composer and Terminology tissue wrap; heart pin; pinwheel; aluminium tape; buttons; tinsel; tulle.
I wanted to do the same tag, but in pink. I will use this one as a Christmas card, the rest of my 12 tags will be stored on a ring and kept as technique inspiration.
I stamped snowflakes on the tag before adhering the tissue paper. The mannequin was painted with Salmon and I used a different sentiment and border piece, otherwise it is pretty similar to the first tag.
I have had so much fun with my 12 tags of Christmas, and will use many of the techniques again.Thank you so much for stopping by!!

12 tags of Christmas 11
My 11th tag for ’12 tags of Christmas’ turned out a bit differently, with quite a bit of white space, my shrink plastic scene turned out so small that it needed some space around it. Here's the tag:
I love shrink plastic and it is always a bit of magic to see the pieces shrink. See how small and cute the die cut tree, bird, snowflakes and car became. I don’t have the heating pot, instead I usually heat layers of UTEE with my heat gun, but I didn’t feel like handling these small pieces with all the detail like that. So instead, I shrunk the pieces, coloured them with alcohol ink, and then coated them on top with Glossy Accents, which gives a similar look as UTEE.
Dye inks on glossy is one of my favourite looks. The tag was inked with Iced Spruce, and then Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles were sponged on the edges. I flicked quite a bit of water on the tag to create the bleached drop effect and then stamped it with a snowflake stamp using Jenni Bowlin Weather Wane. The sentiment and circle were stamped with Jet Black on glossy cardstock. The sentiment was inked with Fired Brick and the circle with Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles. The sentiment reads ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ and the circle contains the recipe for the most well-known Swedish Christmas toffee. Both were adhered with foam dots. Baker’s twine was added as a little road. I also painted the plastic pieces white on the back before sticking them down.
Thank you so much for visiting! Tomorrow it is time for the last tag.
Supplies: Hero Arts Starry Sky S5448, Paper Maze sentiment; Distress Ink: Fired Brick, Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles; Jenni Bowlin Weather Wane; Archival Jet Black ink; alcohol ink: black, denim, cranberry, stonewashed, espresso; Tim Holtz Sizzix Branch Tree, Mini Snowflakes, Bird and Cage, Tab and Bookplates, Mini Old Jalopy & Arrow dies; Kaisercraft rhinestones; twine; tulle; ribbon.

Baubles on patterned paper
I still need to make a few more Christmas cards, they don’t need to travel far, but time is still getting short, so today I have a quick card. It is for the Hero Arts December challenge (sketch 2):
I had this scrap piece of patterned paper on my desk and stamped the baubles on it in brown and red. The snowflakes are second generation stamping using the same brown ink. The pine branch was stamped with Distress Ink Forest Moss. The sentiment was stamped on kraft paper and I matted the piece on dry embossed kraft core paper.
Thank you for looking!!
Supplies: Hero Arts stamps: Decorate Your Holidays CL551, Big Pine Bough K5242; Jenni Bowlin ink Chili Powder, Brown Sugar; Distress Ink: Forest Moss, Brushed Cordoroy; MME patterned paper; Core’dinations Tim Holtz kraft core cardstock; Cuttlebug embossing folder; Kaiserkraft pearls.

12 tags of Christmas 10
I loved the transfer ornaments that Tim made on this 12 tags of Christmas number 10. Here’s my tag:
I used fragments instead of crystals for my ornaments and found a sheet of patterned paper with great images for the ornaments. They were transferred onto clear packaging tape. I hadn’t done that technique for a while and forgot how fun it is. I used aluminium tape at the back, love the soft metallic sheen it gave the ornaments. The background was done in much the same way as Tim’s. The music stamp was stamped on a tag die cut from kraft paper. The pine branch (Stampscapes) and trees were stamped with Peeled Paint and clear embossed. I mixed some Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls with water and misted the tag pretty heavily. The banner was made from a left over piece of tissue tape that had been attached to grungepaper, it was distressed with white paint and ink. The letters were painted gold and coated with glossy accents. I also cut a small leaf from a left over piece of alcohol inked glassine (from tag 7).
Two close-ups:

Advent ATC 14
A simple ATC for 14 December of my ATC calendar.
The background is resist on glossy cardstock and inked with Shabby Shutters. Gingerbread cookies are an important part of Christmas in Sweden. The gingerbread man was white embossed twice on brown cardstock. The sentiment is from a song about gingerbread people.
Thank you for looking!

12 tags of Christmas 9
This is my ninth ’12 tags of Christmas’. I loved the double embossing technique that Tim shared for this tag. I had only tried that with pigment inks before and hadn’t thought of using my distress inks instead.
I wanted a bright background and stamped the fabric pattern with Tumbled Glass. After embossing, the tag was inked with Festive Berries and then embossed again. Before embossing I removed some of the powder from the edges of the tag. It was then sponged with Vintage Photo do get a distressed effect. I didn’t have the die that Tim used, so instead I used one of the Artful Dwelling houses. The grungboard was painted white on the roof and Juniper on the house. The door was painted with black crackle paint and when dry snow was added with Enamel Accents. The door as attached again at an angle so it is ajar. The house was coated with Glossy Accents and the roof sprinkled with white Flower Soft. The fence was cut from grungeboard, painted white, coated with Rock Candy crackle paint, inked with Pumice Stone and then some Flower Soft was added as snow. A heart was die cut from vellum and stamped repeatedly with the work ‘joy’ and a bigger heart was cut from tulle and placed behind it.

Advent ATC 13
Today, Lucia is celebrated in Sweden, and my ATC for 13 December of my ATC calendar is about that.
The background was softly inked and then a music stamp was stamped on top in a patchy way. I printed the main song of Lucia on top, the first song that is sung when Lucia, dressed in white and with a crown of candles, and her group steps into a room.
Thank you for looking!
Supplies: Great Impressions music and music note stamp; Unknown candle stamp; Distress Ink: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Aged Mahogany; American Crafts rub-ons; white gel pen; silver ricrac.

12 tags of Christmas 8
Here’s my eight 12 tags of Christmas. So fun to do a steampunk Christmas tag!
I did the background in much the same way as Tim, just adding a brick stamp with white paint. Instead of using the three gentlemen (which I used on a tag not so long ago), I used a train stamp. It was stamped on grungepaper and inked. I loved the layered gears that Tim used on his tag, and the combination of different metals. The big gear was painted gold, but I didn’t have copper paint, so instead I painted two of the smaller gears and the key with a mix of copper Perfect Pearls and water. They look very shiny in real life. I also wanted to add more of a metal element, and adhered aluminium tape to grungeboard and die cut gears from it. Two of them were coloured with gold alcohol ink, the other two were left silver and just distressed a bit with black paint. I stamped the tag, and then stamped the fun hand inside it. To make the train more festive, I embellished it with some pearls (which were distressed with black paint). I painted the number ‘24’ gold and distressed it a bit. The main day of celebrating Christmas is the 24th. ‘Jul’ means ‘Christmas’.

Advent ATC 12
My ATC for the 12 of December in my ATC calendar:
On this ATC I stamped the number and a stamp with Christmas songs on patterned paper. The tree is a die cut which was inked and then coated with Glossy Accents. White Flower Soft was sprinkled into the Glossy Accents as snow. The sentiment is from a Christmas song about a tree.
Thank you for looking!!

12 tags of Christmas 7
Here’s my seventh 12 tags of Christmas.
I used the same Distress Stains as Tim to make the background (Antique Linen and Pumice Stone) and then stamped the background in a patchy way with Pumice Stone. Kraft glassine was coloured with alcohol inks (gold, Pesto, Lettuce, Bottle). I don’t have the holly die, so instead I used the Tattered Leaves die, after crumbling and inking the glassine. The Branch Tree was die cut from grungeboard for the branches, painted gold, sanded, inked and then painted with a bit of white. Finally, the lace was dyed with Forest Moss.
A close up:

Quick tag cards
After finishing the tag, I needed four very quick cards, so I made another four tags with the same distress stain background (colouring both sides of the tag), and just did some simple stamping on top. I folded the tags, placed the sentiment on the inside, and the cards were finished. Here they are (sorry that some of the photos aren't great, I had to take them very quickly in poor morning light):
