Simon Says Stamp Hello Gorgeous Blog Hop

I made an art journal page today, but you can easily turn it into a card instead.

Spring is slowly starting to make its appearance and I when I saw the Folk Art Flowers stamp I thought it would make a great background for a spring-time art journal page. I worked in my 6x6 White Journal by Dina Wakley. If you want to make a card instead, use watercolor paper or another paper which can handle water well. The pocket on the page opens to reveal another sentiment.

Smear Distress Inks on a non-stick craft sheet, mist with water and press the paper into the ink. This gives us a tinted background to work on. Let dry.

Both the flowers and the dots can be removed from the Folk Art Flowers stamp. Remove all the flowers, but leave the dots. Ink with shades of green Distress Ink and a tiny bit of brown. Mist with water and stamp on the background.

I stamped the flowers one by one, but you could also have added them back into the background stamp and stamped all at once. I thought it was easier to do them one by one. Ink with Wilted Violet at the top and Mermaid Lagoon at the bottom. Mist with water before stamping.

Die cut the Small Pocket Note. On the photo you see heavystock paper, but I changed my mind and die cut it from watercolor paper instead.

Die cut in the beautiful Detail Mandala Plate, which gives this lovely needle-prick pattern.

Die cut the Tattered Leaves from Simon Says Stamp vellum and white glitter paper.

Stamp labels with Pearfection ink using the Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels set. Stamp sentiments from Delicate Floral Frames.

The note card was colored with the same shades that were used for the flowers. There is a ticket label on the little note card and some sequins.

When you open it, you will find another sentiment inside. This one comes from Beautiful Butterflies. I love interactive elements like these.

Arrange the vellum and white glitter leaves on the background and add some sequins.

Watercolor stamping is one of my favorite techniques, partly since it gives a different result every time. The watercolor paper in the White Journal is rough, which is why you will get more texture when stamping on it it than if you use a smoother watercolor paper.

If you don't think the watercolor effect is pronounced enough, you can mist the stamped flowers or leaves with a tiny bit of water. I did that on the flower to the left.
