Fragments Flip Frame

Hello Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend! We have an anything goes challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week. So let your creativity run wild!

I decorated a panel to be displayed in a Flip Frame by Tim Holtz. I am planning to make a whole bunch of different panels, so I can alternate them. The metallic frame is so pretty and I am going to enjoy being able to flip to different panels now and then. Fragments are back again, and I am happy about that because I love their chunky look and that they are transparent. This panel is covered with fragments. I used a favourite photo of Anton and Leo for the largest fragment.

The papers glued behind the fragments all come from the Wallflower paper pad. I used the small patterns in the pad, since they fit much better for the fragments than the full-sized papers. The title was done with label letters.

These are really easy to make. After selecting a section of patterned paper for each fragment, I added rub-on words and numbers to the paper.

Smear a relatively thin layer of Glossy Accents over the entire fragment and press onto the paper. You can move it around slightly to make sure it is firmly down. You won't see any of the adhesive. On the photo fragment, I only added a thin line of Glossy Accents around the edges, because I had a mess up a couple of years ago where there was an air bubble left and the photo ended up looking strange.  I love the sentiment I used on this fragment.

When the Glossy Accents is dry, you can trim around the fragments. If you want to, you can distress them with alcohol ink, but I wanted to keep them in their original form here. I moved the fragments around until I was happy with the design and glued them with matte multi medium.

The background is a piece of mat board which was cut to fit the frame, gessoed and then painted with Ranger's Silver dabber

Very small details on the patterned paper are perfect for the small tiles, and this is a great way of getting even more out of your patterned paper.

The frame comes with rings, so all I did was to punch a hole with my CropaDile and add an eyelet.

I hope you will join us in our anything goes challenge! Just as always, one random participant wins a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp.

Thank you for visiting!

Happy crafting!

  13. I love how you put together so many lovely elements and of course, your photography is always top-notch. I love that image of your boys! I have a similar picture from my youth, except my brother is punching me in the face in it (guess he didn't like having a new baby stealing his spotlight)! Anyway, I was glad to see the joy in that picture and you've made it a stand-out piece with how you did the framing.
