Vintage Valentine's Card

Hello friends! I hope you are all well. I am very much hoping to be reunited with my supplies soon. I have a Valentine's card to share with you today, made with new Sizzix dies by Tim Holtz and lots of ink.

I aimed for a worn vintage look with this card and had fun using some new Valentine's themed dies by Tim Holtz. I like that products designed for Valentine's day often work great all year around, such as hearts, arrows, birds and also many of the sentiments. It makes them very versatile and I love versatile dies.

The background is manila cardstock which was first coloured with Distress Inks. Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap and Gathered Twigs were smeared on my craft sheet and misted with water. The paper was pressed into the ink. After it dried, I stenciled words on top with Pumice Stone ink, using the new Valentine stencil. The background was also stamped with a crackle, splatter and love letter stamp, with Watering Can ink.

The bird and corner both come from the Love You Framelits set, which is a set with stamps and coordinating dies. I love this bird, and I'll use it in a different way for a post tomorrow. Here I inked the stamp with Evergreen Bough and Gathered Twigs, and misted it with water about four times before stamping on watercolour paper. Use the coordinating die to die cut it, something that works much easier if you also have the Magnetic Platform. This sandwich: Magnetic Platform, Cutting Pad, paper, die facing down, second Cutting Pad. The corners were stamped with Red Geranium and die cut with the coordinating die.

All the hearts were die cut from patterned paper with the Heartfelt die, which has 11 hearts in different sizes, and since it is a Bigz die, you can cut them from thick materials too. The folded background cardstock is sanded kraft-core cardstock.

I die cut a label from manila cardstock and inked it with Evergreen Bough and Victorian Velvet. It was splattered with water for extra texture and stamped with a splatter stamp. The sentiment was stamped with Potting Soil ink. I also die cut '14' from manila cardstock with the Alphanumeric 1 in set, and inked them brown.

The arrows are also part of the Love You Framelits set, and apart from the bird, it is my favourite die/stamp from the set. It is easier to have a coordinating die with such a thin design than to fussy cut each arrow.

Thank you for visiting today!!

Happy crafting!!
