How Glorious a Greeting Scenic Stamping

Hello stampers! A new month, and of course, a new theme at Craft a Scene. This month we are doing scenes with Hills and Mountains.

My inspiration this week was this great sentiment and I built up the scene based on that. I made a tall card (9 x 4 3/4 in), using glossy cardstock. After stamping out the whole scene, I messed up the stamping of the sentiment and instead of restamping everything, I stamped it on white cardstock and cut out it, hiding the bad stamping underneath. But it would have looked nicer had the sentiment been stamped in the water as originally planned.

The mountains were stamped with Archival Blue Violet, wiping the stamp off at the base before stamping, and the sun and clouds with Rose Madder. This is one of the few occasions where I will use a mask when stamping with my Stampscapes stamps. The mountains were masked before stamping the two sky stamps.

The Old Mill was stamped with green for the trees and black for the rest. The forest was extended with small pine tree stamps, using second generation stamping to make them look further away.

The edge of the water was extended with the Sedge Bank stamp and I also added some life to the scene. The scene was coloured with dye inks using a Colorbox Stylus tool (see this tutorial), I kept the colours pretty light, making sure to reflect the pink of the sky in the water. The Water Pattern stamp was stamped with both blue and pink, for a tone-on-tone effect. Mist was added by dry-brushing white pigment ink on the scene, particularly at the base of the mountain, adding to the sense of distance.

Thank you for looking! I hope you will join us this week in our challenge.

Happy Stamping!

  4. You are an expert stamper, for sure! If you hadn't told us, we would never have guessed you didn't intend the sentiment to be like that:-)
