Grungy Watering Can

Hello crafters! Today I have another project to share using Eileen Hull's new Sizzix Picket Fence dies, this time I used the 3-D Watering Can Scoreboards die. Such a fun die, and perfect for a gift to someone who likes gardening.

I wanted to make a grungy metallic watering can:

Grungy Watering Can - Layers of ink
The watering can was die cut from mat board, this is an XL die, so you need the extended cutting pads. I used a technique Tim Holtz showed in his September 2012 tag. I randomly cut out pieces of foil tape and covered the whole watering can with them, overlapping them as I went along. I used different tools to make marks in the foil - my needle tool, a ballpoint pen, and my tiny attacher which makes great marks if you use it without having any staples inside. For a similar metal project, with lots of other metal techniques too, see this Metal-ology tag of mine.

The side piece of the watering can was painted silver and distressed with black paint. I also painted the inside of the can silver.

Grungy Watering Can - Layers of ink
This is the back of the watering can. The foil was inked with alcohol inks (Pitch Black, Ginger, Juniper), applied heavily and letting them dry in between. When dry, I distressed it with steel wool. I always try to do these types of dusty activities outdoors. The sentiment was stamped on ledger paper, the edges were inked and distressed.

I printed a photo on cardstock and distressed the edges. A dictionary text stamp was stamped on ledger paper. I also used a Tim Holtz gear, game spinner and film strip ribbon.

The clock was stamped on cream cardstock, inked and coated with Crackle Accents.

Apply a strong adhesive on the flaps on the inside box piece and attach to the side pieces (which are connected at the base).

Thank you for looking!

Happy crafting!

Anna-Karin
