Brick Wall Background

Hello stampers! Today I have two cards to share made with the new Darkroom Door Brick Wall Background stamp.

This is such a great and versatile stamp, I'll be using it on cards, layouts and 3-D projects. Use the whole stamp, or just a small part of it for a different effect.

Brick Wall Background - Layers of ink
On the first card, I clear embossed the Brick Wall on manila cardstock, since I wanted the cement parts between the bricks to be light coloured. The paper was inked with Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany and Black Soot Distress Ink. The embossing resists the ink. I also flicked water drops on the background to create more texture.

I thought the brick background would be perfect together with some of the city paper products and here I used a gorgeous door photo from New York Photochips. For a sentiment, I stamped this great quote from the Doors set, on kraft resist paper and cut it into strips. The keys were silver embossed and distressed with Black Soot. As a cardbase I used black kraft-core cardstock, sanded around the edges.

On the second card, I stamped the Brick Wall on cream paper and embossed with Ranger's Cement embossing powder, which gives a great gritty texture, similar to real cement. The paper was misted with water and I added colour with Faber-Castell Gelatos, just randomly applying them here and there. The upper edge was torn to create the look of an old worn brick wall.

I mounted a photo from Prague Montage on a piece of alcohol inked glossy cardstock that I found in my scrap box. It was stamped with the French Script stamp. The photo and wordstrips were distressed around the edges. The brick panel was mounted on orange color-core cardstock, which was first embossed in a postcard folder.

Here's a close up of the brick texture.

Thank you for looking!

Happy Stamping!
